Players on consoles and PCs got a taste of Nexon’s looter-shooter through the September 2023 Open Beta Test period. It showcased many of the game’s main features including most of the playable characters and the tough-as-nails Void Intercept mission. Nevertheless, newcomers to this game might be asking one important question. If you farmed items and levels back in The First Descendant Open Beta, did the progress carry over to the full game?

[Updated on August 17 – Changed outdated information, added new details about the beta rewards and missing skins]

Sad to say, The First Descendant Open Beta progress did not carry over and all players’ data is “reset for the full release.” On the other hand, newcomers can feel relieved as they won’t be outgunned by beta players when starting a new game. Nexon has relayed this fact through the game’s Steam News page as well as on its official website’s Open Beta news page.

Will my game data from the Crossplay Open Beta Test carry over when the game is launched?
Unfortunately, all game data from this test will be reset. Please understand that the data will be reset to improve the game based on test feedback and results.

Nevertheless, beta participants are able to redeem exclusive bonus content, which ranges from fun emotes to a cute backpack.

The First Descendant Open Beta progress rewards can be claimed from the Mailbox in Albion or zones’ Outposts until September 27, 2024. The cosmetics can then be equipped and set up in the “Customize” tab of the “Inventory” menu.

The full list of all claimable rewards can be seen in the table below. Do note that you can only redeem the bonuses if you use the same account for the beta period and the full game.

Some players might wonder if Nexon pulled Crossplay Beta Test skin rewards and put them into the microtransaction shop instead. It turns out that’s never the case; the skins are only given as “previews” during the trial period for players who pre-registered for the beta. The company has never promised to give out the skins for free after the game is released.

Those who pre-register [for the Crossplay Open Beta] will be provided with ‘3 Default Descendant Full Body Skin Trial Vouchers’ that can be used during the test period.

The Trial Vouchers let players redeem these costumes during the Crossplay Beta. After the beta ended, the skins are put up for sale for 750 Caliber in the in-game Shop:

  • Lepic’s Reaper of the Battlefield.
  • Ajax’s Undisclosed Project.
  • Viessa’s Blody Rose.

We also thought that the Trial Vouchers were going to be given as a reward in the release version. We have identified the error and rewrote the misinformation.

The First Descendant Crossplay Open Beta ran from September 19, 2023, through September 25, 2023. During the Beta period, players can try 11 standard and two Ultimate characters. Along with three zones, you can also take a peek at more than 50 unique weapons, and 300 Skill and Ultimate Modules to enhance your Descendant.
