Ubisoft Officially Announces Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 Is on Its Way

Maybe this time players will finally be able to shut that car door like never before.

Out of nowhere, Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, sequel to the extremely popular The Division 2, is in its early stages of development. This reveal comes along with the announcement that Julian Gerighty, who has previously worked on big titles like Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, Assassin’s Creed, and Star Wars Outlaws, is now the executive producer of the entire The Division series. Gerighty will be spearheading the direction of The Division 3, and will be playing a pivotal role in the development of the game at Massive Entertainment.

The actual announcement was about Gerighty taking the helm for the series, and Ubisoft just sprinkled The Division 3 confirmation as a side-note. For the uninitiated, Massive Entertainment has worked on the previous two games in the franchise as well. The team for the upcoming game is currently growing as development ramps up, but that is about everything with know about The Division 3 at this point.

Ubisoft has not released a trailer or even a teaser for now. And this means that this confirmation does not mean The Division 3 is coming out anytime soon. The game is likely in its early stages, and fans should not expect to get their hands on it for at least a year or two.

Gerighty will directly be involved in operations, creative vision, and general oversight and is working with the teams that made Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. But he will also continue working on Star Wars Outlaws like before.

Gerighty had this to say about the future of Ubisoft and The Division 3:

There are only a few games that I can genuinely say blew me away the first time I saw them, and Tom Clancy’s The Division is one of them. I was immediately hooked, like so many others who are part of our devoted player community.

It’s a privilege and an honor to be able to continue to build incredible and unforgettable experiences in this amazing world with the most talented teams around the world, and I can’t wait for what’s next.

Ubisoft Press Release

Hopefully, Ubisoft continues to push the series forward without falling into the same creative pitfalls that have plagued the publisher for years.
