Investor Day means more than just business; it also means gaming news. CD Projekt Red has delivered plenty of Cyberpunk 2077 news, including details on how it is going about development for Orion, the codename for the sequel to the RPG. In a video for the company’s Investor Day, several key figures talked about which of its multiple studios will develop the sequel and where the process is currently at (seen below).

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel, Orion, Development Slowly Rolling Forward

CCO Adam Badowski detailed how the sequel, Cyberpunk 2077: Orion, will be developed largely in its North American locations, including Vancouver and Boston. By late next year, North American teams will work with the home teams in Poland.

Currently, the “project is on a conceptual design level.” Much of the focus from the developers is to support the release of Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and its expansion, Phantom Liberty. Experienced devs who worked on overhaul and Phantom Liberty will be at the helm of the sequel.

Not much is known about the sequel due to Cyberpunk 2077: Orion is in such early development. During the video, Cyberpunk‘s quest director Paweล‚ Sasko teased some of the ideas that are being discussed. He went over how making the first game in first-person was one of the driving “characteristics” to separate it from the studio’s work on The Witcher. When it comes to the idea of pivoting to a third-person perspective, he said, “We’re yet to see.”

The studio is keeping itself occupied with various projects, from The Witcher to Cyberpunk 2077, beyond the unofficially titled sequel, Orion. Today, it announced that a live-action Cyberpunk project is in the works, but it is not confirmed to be a TV show or movie. More seasons of The Witcher are coming, The Witcher 4 is in development, and various other media are in the works from the company or its collaborators.
