This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Close-range combat is as dangerous in the land of Mournstead. In Umbra it’s easy to get surrounded by enemies, and things aren’t much safer in Axiom. When swords and hammers are so risky in a Soulslike, many will turn to ranged options. Bows, crossbows, and spells all help keep you safe from afar, but they aren’t the only choices. Even if your character already uses ranged weapons or spells, throwables expand their tactical arsenal with different effects. From healing yourself to bonking enemies on the head, you can’t go wrong with these. Here are the best throwables in Lords of the Fallen, ranked from useful to fantastic.

5. Enhanced Accusing Spirit

Enemies struck by the Enhanced Accusing Spirit suffer a debuff to their damage. They also take more damage from your attacks. Best of all, this effect can transfer to another enemy as long as the curse remains active. Stacking a buff, debuff, and special effect in a single throwable is pretty great. The requirements to use the Enhanced Accusing Spirit are a mere 8 Radiance and 8 Inferno, so you can pretty much pick it up and use it right away, regardless of your starting class. It also has an Ammo Cost of 2, which is cheaper than most of the best throwables in Lords of the Fallen, so you won’t immediately exhaust your supplies.

4. Enhanced Radiantburst Parchment

Throwing explosive scriptures at someone is pretty metal, but the coolness factor isn’t the only reason to recommend this item. The Enhanced Radiantburst Parchment has an attack power of 402 and deals Holy damage, which allows it to shred through vulnerable enemies. This item not only damages enemies but also heals allies, making it a great fit for co-op. The only requirement to use this throwable is 8 Radiance, which makes it extremely easy to fit into your build, even if Radiant isn’t your focus. Its Ammo Cost of 3 isn’t great but could be worse, and given what you get in exchange, it’s worth it.

3. Enhanced Banner Javelin of Protection

The Enhanced Banner Javelin of Protection has something in common with the Enhanced Radiantburst Parchment: they heal as well as harm. The Enhanced Banner Javelin of Protection can either be thrown at an enemy or planted in the ground, creating an AoE healing effect. The restoration is slow, so it’s not great for the middle of hectic fights, but when used wisely it’s still one of the best throwables. Use this Javelin during certain boss fights or after you’ve exhausted your Sanguinarix while exploring, and you’ll see just how valuable its healing effect can be. LotF is rough, so you’ll need all the help you can get. One of the only major downsides is its Ammo Cost of 4.

2. Enhanced Lacerating Knife

The Enhanced Lacerating Knife works great fit with Agility builds. With B+ AGI scaling, low weight, and an Ammo Cost of 1, there’s little risk in adding this to the arsenal of a fast, mobile character. The Enhanced Lacerating Knife deals Physical damage and also causes Bleed buildup. You’ll need to land several knives to get real value out of this weapon, but with such a low Ammo Cost that’s fine. Its requirement of 9 Strength and 11 Agility means it might be out of reach for pure spellcasters, but everyone else should at least consider adding this weapon to their build.

1. Enhanced Lump Hammer

The Enhanced Lump Hammer is as crude as it is effective. It’s also easily one of the best throwables in Lords of the Fallen. Does a medieval knight pitching hammers at a fire demon look silly? Yes. Is it scarily good at killing things? Also yes. B+ STR scaling and high Physical damage make this weapon lethal in a Strength build. Just as important as the DPS is this weapon’s stagger effect. Staggering enemies with every hit means anything you don’t kill instantly will at least be forced to pause. That means time for you to reload or reposition. If you’ve been running a pure melee build and get stuck on a difficult boss fight, consider bringing the Enhanced Lump Hammer to battle.

Lords of the Fallen is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
