Tokyo Treat
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information.

With the beginning of school and all the fun things that go with it, Brayden, my 7-year-old son, and I was just now able to taste-test the July Tokyo Treat box.

Tokyo Treat

Pokemon Gummy:  Pokemon has become a huge hit recently with the release of the Pokemon Go app.  These Pokemon Gummies are fruity tasting round gummies and are packed with some amazing fruit flavors.  Brayden says yellow (which he says tastes like mango) is his favorite.  We are not 100% sure what the yellow flavor was supposed to be.

Tokyo Treat

Black Thunder Gold:  This is one of the most popular chocolate bars in Japan with Japanese-style rice puffs, cookie center, and milk chocolate.  This chocolate bar was really good! It tasted like a mixture of different candy bars in the U.S. like Twix and Whatchamacallit.

Tokyo Treat

Milk Flavored Potato Chips:  So, when I saw these, I was very hesitant to try them because I do not like milk! I never have and I was only hoping these chips didn’t actually taste like milk.  So, the verdict is in and these chips are AMAZING!!  I couldn’t stop eating them.  Now, this does not mean I am ready to drink a cold glass of milk anytime soon.  But, give me a bag of these chips and I’m happy.

Tokyo Treat

Thomas and Friends Chocolate Pretzel Sticks:  These taste and looks like “pocky” sticks which are cookie like sticks dipped in chocolate.  Brayden LOVED them and I liked them, as well.

Tokyo treat

Brazillian Orange Pocky: This snack was very refreshing and fruity.  Brayden wasn’t going to try it until I told him it tasted really good and he tasted it.  The next thing I knew he couldn’t stop eating them.  Very tasty!

Tokyo Treat

Anpanman Ramune Candy: This little creative “tube’ of fruity candies is very tasty with grape, peach, orange and apple flavors.  They are like a sweet tart without the tart.

Tokyo Treat

Cocotama Snack: Brayden tasted these strawberry and milk flavored biscuits and claimed them. He said he was “calling dibs” on that one.

Tokyo Treat

Thomas and Friends Chewing Candy:  We saved this package until last when we were taste testing because we were certain it was gum.  We open it, start chewing it, and sure enough, it’s not gum! It’s taffy-like candy.  But let me tell you, this candy was very tasty! I love grape flavored items anyway but this was truly a great-tasting candy.  I needed there to be more pieces.

Shrimp Crackers: These crackers were very interesting.  Brayden passed on trying them so I was the lucky one to try them.  I like shrimp so how bad could it be, right?  Honestly, they weren’t bad.  But it was just weird when I ate one.  I immediately tasted shrimp but I was eating a cracker. They didn’t taste bad.  Just a weird experience.

Calpis Gummy: These gummies were actually pretty tasty with different fruit flavors and a gooey yogurt inside the gummies.  I was a little scared of the texture when I first tried them but they were pretty good.  Brayden seemed to enjoy them, as well.

Dragon Ball Heros Snack 5:  These cheese puff snacks are shaped like a “C” and are pretty good.  They come with Dragon Ball Z trading cards.

img_2588

Yokai Watch Chocolate: This is basically a chocolate sucker molded in the shape of one of the Yokai characters.

img_2596

Soybean Flour Mochi Rice Cake DIY: The DIY kit that was included was not my favorite.  It is made up of two gooey substances mixed with some soybean flour to coat it. The texture alone was enough for me not to enjoy it.  But there are plenty of people out there that would disagree, I’m sure.

img_2598

Fortune-telling Chocolate Pills: This is a fun snack! The book that comes with Tokyo Treat give information about how it works but maybe you can get your fortune told on the areas of your life that you need to know (if you believe in that kind of thing).

img_2592

Marutake Peach Drink: When I first picked up this drink, it felt like a big gummy.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when I drank it but it was a refreshing, tasty drink.

Moko Moko Mokolet Toilet DIY Candy 3: This was Brayden’s favorite thing out of the box!  At first, he said, “I’m not drinking out of the toilet” then I put it together and got the fizzy stuff going in the toilet and he tried it.  He loved it!

We were a little late getting this box review out but we really enjoyed it and look forward to trying these new things each time.

The Tokyo Treat box comes in 3 different sizes or plans:

Small: This subscription costs $14.95 and you receive 5-7 Full-size Japanese candy and snacks.
