Diablo 4 Trading Disabled, Blizzard Threatens To Ban Players

No more trading, at least for now.

The size of Diablo 4 is one of its most endearing qualities, but on the flip side, that same quality lends it to being too open-ended in some cases. This has resulted in players finding methods of “gaming the system” to make their experience much better; some of these exploits are also considered cheating. Blizzard has had enough and so has decided to halt all trading activities for now in Diablo 4 until the exploit is removed.

The latest exploit discovered by Diablo 4 players allows them to duplicate equipment, and so it completely breaks the trading system. And Blizzard does not need to give players another excuse to review bomb the game even further. In a sensible move, the company has announced that it will ban anyone who is found using this exploit.

Since the release of Diablo 4, players have discovered many different exploits, and before this, Blizzard just let people off with a slap on the wrist and fixed the exploit. But this time, people are losing their money over things that are essentially being generated infinitely and not without playing the game. But most importantly, it undermines Blizzard’s predatory in-game microtransactions, so matters had to be taken seriously this time.

Rich Bantegui, the community manager at Blizzard, said on the official Diablo 4 forums that people who were found duplicating equipment will have their accounts suspended. While thanking the player base for their patience, he confirmed that the developers are working on the issue and that accounts abusing this exploit will be “actioned” officially.

It may seem harsh, but this is a necessary step in minimizing cheating and allowing people to enjoy the game how it was intended. And if you weren’t even aware of the exploit, you have nothing to worry about. Just wait out the temporary pause in trading, and things should go back to normal relatively soon.
