BLACKPINK is here to stay. After months of contract negotiations, it seems the K-pop group has finally reached an agreement with their long-time agency, YG Entertainment. According to the South Korean news agency Naver, all four members of BLACKPINK — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — have signed on to stay with the company. The news comes four months after the girls’ contract with their label expired in August.

Despite rumors the group would be leaving the company, YG Entertainment confirmed to Naver that they’ll continue to work with BLACKPINK as part of a new contract. The label said they were able to reach an agreement with the members after having built a strong relationship with them over the years.

After careful discussions with Blackpink, we have signed an exclusive contract for the group’s activities based on deep trust.

YG Entertainment

BLACKPINK debuted as a group under YG Entertainment in August 2016. Although the band has been releasing music together for seven years, the members have actually been with their record label for more than a decade. In 2010, Jennie became the first member to join YG Entertainment. Lisa followed suit by becoming a trainee later that year. Meanwhile, Jisoo signed on in 2011, and Rosé hopped on board in 2012.

Yang Hyun-suk, an executive producer at YG Entertainment and the former CEO, told Naver that the company is “happy” to continue growing its relationship with BLACKPINK. He said he’s confident the group will “shine even brighter in the global music market” in the future. In fact, BLACKPINK is said to be working on a new album and planning another world tour.

BLACKPINK dropped their previous record, Born Pink, in September 2022. The following month, they embarked on their Born Pink world tour. After performing in various cities around the globe, the group concluded their year-long trek in September.
