Disney Dreamlight Valley is known for introducing new Disney characters with almost every update, and the A Rift in Time expansion is no different. The new expansion brings several new characters to the game, including Eve as the second WALL-E character to be brought to Dreamlight Valley. You can find Eve on Eternity Isle, where she’s been guarding the Royal Hourglass for longer than anyone can remember. She’s a determined little bot, but she’ll need your help finding a purpose in the quest “A New Directive.”

To get the “A New Directive” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to reach level 2 friendship with Eve. This isn’t very hard to do after you’ve recovered the Royal Hourglass and completed her “Directive: Danger!” quest. After you reach level 2 friendship, Eve will have a new quest for you – talk to her.

Like WALL-E, Eve is a little hard to understand, but your character will eventually figure out how to communicate. Since Eve spent so long guarding the Royal Hourglass for you, she’s bored and struggling to find a purpose now that she has nothing to do. Promise to help her find something new to do, and you’ll receive the “A New Directive” quest.

A New Directive: Feed Two Monkeys

The first step in getting Eve’s groove back is feeding two monkeys. Monkeys are a new type of critter introduced with the A Rift in Time expansion and can be found all over Ancient’s Landing on Eternity Isle. Specifically, there’s one monkey on The Docks and another in the Courtyard, if you don’t have any of the other areas unlocked yet.

To feed the monkeys, you’ll need to give them a meal that’s 3 stars or above. Their favorite food is a banana split, but any meal rated high enough will do. You can check out our full guide on feeding the monkeys here, but all you need to know for this quest is that to feed a monkey, you’ll have to play tag with it until it calms down enough for you to approach it.

After you’ve fed two monkeys, talk to Eve again, and she’ll explain that she wants to see WALL-E but wants to do it in a specific place. Follow her into the Overlook and down some stairs to a secret garden, then back out to receive the next step of the quest.

A New Directive: Use the Hourglass to Find Objects in the Swirling Sands

For the next step of “A New Directive,” you’ll be tasked with finding a BnL Picnic Blanket and a BnL Trashcan Planter in the swirling sands around Ancient’s Landing. It can be a little confusing as to what the game means by “swirling sands,” but you’re supposed to clear away the patches of floating rocks around the biome using your Royal Hourglass. If you’ve already completed Rapunzel‘s quest, this is similar, except the rocks are brown this time instead of gray. Thankfully, you only have to clear the small floating rocks, so you won’t have to upgrade your Hourglass for the bigger ones.

Since there’s no way to tell which rocks contain the Picnic Blanket and Trashcan Planter, you’ll have to keep clearing the floating rocks until you find the right items. This isn’t a bad thing since clearing away the rocks will usually reward you with Mist. Once you’ve found the BnL Picnic Blanket and BnL Trashcan Planter, you’ll need to get some decor for Eve and WALL-E’s picnic.

For the next step in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s “A New Directive,” you’ll be tasked with collecting the following flowers and stones from around Ancient’s Landing:

  • 3x Orange Bird of Paradise (found in The Docks and The Courtyard)
  • 3x Yellow Bird of Paradise (found in The Docks and The Courtyard)
  • 3x White Bird of Paradise (found in The Docks and The Courtyard)
  • 3x Red Luminescent Flowers (found in The Ruins and The Overlook)
  • 2x Jade (found in The Courtyard and The Overlook)

After you’ve found the picnic blanket, the trashcan planter, and all of the flowers and Jade, take all of the items back to Eve. Turn them in, then follow Eve as she finds WALL-E and invites him to her picnic.

Your last objective is to follow Eve and WALL-E back to the secret garden from earlier and take 3 pictures of them enjoying their picnic. Once this is done, talk to Eve, who’s very happy now that she’s found something to do – that is, spending time with WALL-E – and you’ll officially complete the quest “A New Directive” in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is currently available for PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
