Upcoming Game From Dragon Ball Z Creator Sand Land Gets Release Date

Sand Land is being developed by Bandai Namco in collaboration with the legendary Akira Toriyama, best known for creating Dragon Ball Z, and it seems we’ll be getting our hands on the game a lot sooner than we expected. The developers have released a new trailer for Sand Land that confirms the game’s different editions and the release date is April 26, 2024.

The art style of Sand Land should be instantly familiar to anyone who has either watched Dragon Ball Z or played other works of Akira Toriyama like Chrono Trigger. Although the character and vehicle designs look very familiar, the setting, however, does not.

Like the Sand Land movie, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic, sand-filled wasteland that is overrun by, you guessed it: dinosaurs. You take control of a pink boy by the name of Beelzebub and fight your way through the new landscape using your fists or a plethora of interesting vehicles. These can range from mechs that should remind you of Metal Slug, futuristic hovercrafts that suit the mostly barren environment, and run-of-the-mill trucks that will get the job done.

The open-world setting should allow for freedom of exploration and the vehicles with their different abilities look like it will be fun to get around.

Sand Land will launch in a physical Standard Edition which will have the game, and pre-order bonuses like the Survivalist Camo Pack, which gives you three different colors for customizing your vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition will not only include everything from the Standard Edition, but will also have the My Room Furniture Set: Army Base, My Room Furniture Set: Hideout, Speed Demon Pack, and a Beelzebub Decal Set as well.

Finally, the Collector’s Edition will come with everything that the Deluxe Edition has and an exclusive Deelzebub figurine by S.H. Figurarts. The Collector’s Edition will only be available from the Bandai Namco Store.

Sand Land releases globally on April 26, 2024, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
