More criminal schemes are being made. Netflix has released the first trailer for The Gentlemen, a series that is in the world of the 2019 Guy Ritchie movie (seen below). This time around, instead of being led by Matthew McConaughey as an American diving into the British gangster underworld, Theo James must figure out how it works when he is thrust into it. The director of the original film is the creator, co-writer, executive producer, and directs the first two episodes.

The series follows The White Lotus star as Eddie Horniman, who inherits his father’s estate. What he uncovers from the inheritance is part of a cannabis operation. He tries to play the criminals in and around his family, only to find that he may like it more than he thought to go against the grain of society. The footage shows him inheriting the estate and the lifestyle that follows, including fancy cars and plenty of blood stains.

The Gentlemen Trailer Sets Netflix and Guy Ritchie’s Partnership to Expand 2019 Movie’s World With a New Series

Throughout The Gentlemen trailer, we see some of the supporting cast joining James. The cast includes Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito, Chanel Cresswell, Michael Vu, Max Beesley, Jasmine Blackborow, Harry Goodwins, Dar Salim, Pearce Quigley, Ruby Sear, and Peter Serafinowicz.

The 2019 film followed McConaughey as he tried to sell his weed empire in London. The action comedy went into how that plan was not as easy as he probably hoped. It received modest reviews that led to a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. In our review, we found it to be “an amusing gangster comedy film that could have used a couple of more lessons before taking its act on the road.” Beyond some rough moments, it was a worthy watch.

The Gentlemen trailer does not give an exact date, but it is aiming its sights for this March. Alongside the creator of the series, it is written and executive produced by Matthew Read. Marn Davies, Ivan Atkinson, Marc Helwig, Will Gould, and Frith Tiplady also executive produce. Hugh Warren serves as a producer.
