Palworld isn’t just the biggest creature-collecting craze since Pokemon, it’s also the source of some genuinely hilarious memes. From early access bugs to fond memories of spawn, there are plenty of funny (and painful) references for the community to latch onto. Pocketpair is hard at work expanding the game and ironing out bugs, but in the meantime, we have a ton of content to keep us busy before the game leaves early access. If what we’ve seen so far is any indication, things will only get funnier from here. Here are 10 of the funniest Palworld memes out there, in no particular order.

Sometimes the best Palworld memes are the most straightforward. The game didn’t just blow away the Steam charts and Xbox sales numbers; it also robbed a lot of gamers of sleep as they dove head-first into the creature-catching action. Long nights of battling Pals and building your base might leave you looking like Depresso, but it’s all worth it in the end, right?

9. Don’t Forget Where You Came From

In this case, where you came from is spawn, an area that many players are all too familiar with. The game’s first challenges involve building a Primitive Workbench and other basic items, and plenty of players just go with the flow and end up building their first base a stone’s throw from spawn. With plenty of natural resources and a decent selection of starting Pals in the area, it has everything you need in the early-game, so why leave?

8. Mammorest

Tricking a new player into trying to catch Mammorest is the Palworld equivalent of telling an Elden Ring newbie that the Tree Sentinel is a breeze. Mean? A little bit. Funny? Absolutely. Based on the creature’s size alone, most players are wise enough to avoid a confrontation with this Grass-type elephant, so it’s always funny when someone gets reckless and tries to take it down despite their best judgment. It’s great for generating Palworld memes, if nothing else.

7. Wood and Stone

Unlike Pokemon, Palworld is a survival-crafting game as much as a creature-collection sim. That means you’ll spend plenty of time gathering resources with which to make new items and build your base. You’ll need an obnoxious amount of wood and stone, and lugging them around can become a game thanks to the game’s encumbrance system. There’s a workaround that makes moving heavy stacks easier, but we’ll always have funny memories of the struggle.

6. I Don’t Need It

Everyone’s journey to Palworld looks a bit different. While some of us wanted to play from the second we saw it, others resisted the siren song of the Palpagos Islands. For many, watching gun-toting Pals unload on their enemies in firefights straight out of Far Cry was the dealmaker. Despite the game’s bugs and early access state, getting in on the action early has paid off, proving sometimes it’s better to just take the plunge.

5. Lifmunk Effigies

Though Pocketpair has already taken steps to address this bug, it’s the kind of thing that veteran players will be talking about long after the game’s full release. That’s especially true since it’s already been immortalized in Palworld memes. Lifmunk statues are supposed to make capturing Pals easier, but a nasty glitch caused them to do the opposite. While that was a painful surprise for anyone trying to maximize their catch rate, less observant (or more distractible) players managed to avoid the debuff altogether.

4. Waiting for More Pals to Catch

If there’s one major downside to jumping into a creature-collection game in early access, it’s that you end up running out of new creatures to catch much faster. Our Pal Boxes are now full of dozens of Foxparks, Fuacks, and Sparkits, and even the rarest and most elusive Pals. That takes a little of the mystery out of the world, leaving many players itching for new Pals, even though the game just launched. Pocketpair plans on adding a ton of monsters to the game, so humor isn’t a bad way to deal with the wait.

3. What About All the Other Games?

Some games demand more of your time than others. Though you could jump into Palworld for just a few minutes a day and still make progress, it’s a game that tends to devour the hours instead. Despite Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Tekken 8, and other huge titles dropping around the same time, some players haven’t been able to tear themselves away from Palworld long enough to check them out. At least they’ll still be waiting when (or if) we ever break Palworld‘s spell.

2. When I Have Used All the Spheres

When you reach the end-game, running out of Pal Spheres isn’t really a thing. Before you have a sizable base and a good assembly line going, however, it’s totally possible to run out. Few things in Palworld are more frustrating than getting to the end of a long boss fight just to realize you’ve used your last Pal Sphere. You can always return to fight another day, but it’s a moment of discouragement that resonates with many players. Laugh away the pain, buddy.

1. My Pals 99% of the Time

One of the main functions of Pals is to help you out around the base by crafting items and doing chores for you. Unfortunately, the game’s assignment system is less than reliable. As a result, many Pals who are supposed to be working end up sitting around or wandering aimlessly. What’s even funnier is seeing them spring into action as soon as you start a new crafting project of your own. Where was all this enthusiasm five minutes ago, Tanzee?

Palworld is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access.
