A new film has blown up on Netflix. Einstein and the Bomb is the latest big documentary on Netflix that fills in what Oppenheimer did not tell about the story between the two scientists. We get a better picture than the brief appearance he made (played by Tom Conti) in Christopher Nolan’s historical biopic.

While the two men had a brief relationship that indirectly impacted the making of the Bomb to End All Wars, there was still plenty of story to tell. The film, directed by Anthony Phillipson, uses archived footage and dramatization to provide additional context to the man, his career, his life, and his involvement in the bomb. Aidan McArdle stars as the renowned scientist in the dramatized scenes. All words that this depiction of Albert Einstein says are from something he actually said or had written.

Einstein and the Bomb Dominates Netflix Charts as Oppenheimer Hunger Has Not Ended

Due to Flix Patrol, we have the latest on the charts for the streaming service. In a rare and surprising outcome, the Netflix rom-com Players has been knocked back by the documentary Einstein and the Bomb. Below the two films are the rest of the top performers with The Abyss, Despicable Me 3, Dunki, Lover, Stalker, Killer; Kill Me If You Dare, Despicable Me 2, Gran Turismo, and Jurassic World Dominion.

While historical documentaries aren’t always what people devour to the point of becoming top spots on streaming services, this time around things are different. Oppenheimer was one of 2023’s biggest movies by grossing over $900 million worldwide and racking up 13 Oscar nods. Due to the online phenomenon Barbenheimer and people’s love for the acclaimed director, the ingredients were there for its success. Now, this part of history has stuck in people’s minds to give Einstein and the Bomb the success on Netflix that it may not have reached without the Cillian Murphy-led blockbuster.
