Netherrealm Studios has proven their fighting game pedigree over the last few years. In 2015 they brought the Mortal Kombat series back into relevance with Mortal Kombat X. And now in 2017 they will bring forth the sequel to one of the most surprising fighting games of 2013. Injustice 2 looks to build upon the solid mechanics and the extensive roster of Gods Among Us and we’ve recently learned how soon we can start playing. Initial murmurs began after Netherrealm’s Creative Director Ed Boon posted a photo on twitter, simply reading, “i2.05.16.17.” Netherrealm studios official account then tweeted out the same date with accompanying images of Batman and The Flash. Since these initial teases, Warner Bros. has officially announced that Injustice 2 will release in America for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017.

At E3 Injustice 2 brought back classic characters such as Batman, Superman and Aqua Man. While also introducing new characters to the roster, Red Lantern Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, and Super Girl. At Gamescon, fans of Suicide Squad were greeted with the announcement of Harley Quinn and Deadshot as playable characters. The trailer highlighting the high level of customization now prevalent in the Injustice sequel. Allowing you to style your fighter towards their animated, film or comic book versions of themselves. Then during the San Diego Comic-con, we learned that Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle would also be joining the fight.

Injustice 2 brings forth the balanced combination of a brutal brawler, top notch DC roster, and a well-crafted and lore filled story. And now with a new focus on custimisable gear that will change the way your fighters interact with one another, fighting game fans are in for a treat. For everything on challenging brawlers and the DC universe stay tuned to The Nerd Stash.
