Since the day that Bravo 6 went dark on the alleyways of Verdansk, we’ve received more than five Warzone maps in the past couple of years. With the release of each mainline Call of Duty title, Warzone has been the sound of a general narrative, portraying the story in relevant and variable maps. However, not all these battlegrounds have been fan favorites, with some of them even being hated for some noticeable reasons. That said, here are all the Warzone maps released so far, ranked from worst to best.
8. Caldera
Call of Duty: Vanguard received mixed reviews from fans, but its Warzone integration went a lot worse than expected. Vanguard weapons with 10 attachments were more than overpowered, and we had to tolerate a forest Warzone map called Caldera for a full year! The map features the least buildings and covers, visibility is a challenge with all the trees and rocks in it, and overall, it was not worth it for the developers to trade the revamped Verdansk with an island with fake stories.
7. Al Mazrah
MW2‘s story begins with this map, with Ghost’s mission taking place in the lands of Adal. The map is big, and that’s the first problem. With 150 people landing, Al Mazrah is far wider than needed to keep the combat in range. The second problem is the open areas of this map, leaving some of the final circles to chance and randomness. Add 200 players and enough buildings to Al Mazrah, and the worst desert turns into one of the best Warzone maps.
6. Ashika Island
After playing in Al Mazrah only for months, we received an update in Season 2; Resurgence returned with the worst Warzone map in the game mode. Ashika Island is not a bad choice for quick action and fast-paced combat, but the issue of less covering structures and more open areas is easily felt on the island. Compared to the other Resurgence map competitors, Ashika Island has the least total players engaged in a match.
5. Fortune’s Keep
Fortune’s Keep was the second Warzone Resurgence map to be added to the game as a part of the Vanguard Season 3 integration. The map is bright with enough covers and even an underground location to visit. It’s like putting Caldera in months of review room and then rendering something far better out of it. The result is one of the best maps of Warzone, offering fresh sights, fewer open fields, and enough covers for competitive gameplay.
4. Urzikestan
Urzikestan was a fresh breath for the fans of the Battle Royale in Warzone. After suffering the downfall of the game mode in Caldera and Al Mazrah, Urzikestan came to reinvent what was lost about a full-fledged Warzone BR experience. The map features cities with Verdansk’s vibes, introduces horizontal ziplines, and comes with fresh-looking landscapes, keeping the final circles of the match’s intensity.
3. Vondel
With Fortune’s Keep and Ashika Island being the previous two in release order, Vondel was a blast. The map features so many buildings, leaning the gameplay into more of a tactical approach. Every circle requires a thought before a blind rush, while you won’t need a vehicle when you can glide into different sections. Rooftop fights are the #1 feature of this map, adding more verticality than killing enemies behind rocks and walls only. Vondel is easily one of the bestย Warzoneย maps of all time and is currently available in the game.
2. Rebirth Island
The first Warzone Resurgence map was so good that it pushed players from BR to the Rebirth Island. Standard open field sections, differently designed buildings, and a main prison that holds intense fights at the core of the map; what more could we ask for? Every section of the Rebirth Island can give players on all sides a chance to win the battle, prioritizing the intensity of the combat and decreasing the gameplay randomness.
1. Verdansk
After years, Verdansk is still considered a benchmark for a good Warzone map. Both versions of Verdansk have the best POIs that have ever been featured in a BR Call of Duty map. Open fields with covers for sniping, detailed buildings for close-quarter combat, and variable verticality all make Verdansk a balanced map for the best Call of Duty Battle Royale experience.
Now, it’s noteworthy that all the mentionedย Warzoneย maps in this list have had their ups and downsย throughout the seasons. Every update changed their form to a stretch, making them a better or worse version. But in the end, a map like Cladera is easily forgotten, while Verdansk is the one that everyone wants to return.
