Like any ARPG worth its salt, Last Epoch lets you join various factions to enhance your experience and give variety to each character you make. You may even see these options in the Factions menu while playing. The Merchant Guild is one such faction you can join in Last Epoch, counter to the Circle of Fortune, but how does this group work?

Where Can You Join the Merchant’s Guild?

The Merchant’s Guild is one of two Item Factions in Last Epoch opposite to the Circle of Fortune, but you won’t encounter either until Chapter 9. You’ll need to have a great deal higher level to reach either faction in the Divine Era (-12 BE) city of Maj’Elka, having cleared the Lower District first.

You can find the Merchant’s Guild at the Bazaar portion of the city, accessible after completing some prerequisite quests in Maj’Elka Lower District. Given that you’ll need to be at a level upwards of 50 before reaching this, you can’t rush to join this guild.

The Merchant Guild allows you to trade with fellow player members at the Bazaar, or in any town as long as you’re both there in Last Epoch. Any items acquired can be equipped or used while aligned with the Merchant’s Guild. This means that any items acquired while aligned with Circle of Fortune won’t work if aligned with the Merchant’s Guild. But while I’m talking about Circle of Fortune, we should examine the two guilds’ differences.

As you trade and gain favor, you will ascend the ranks in the Merchant’s Guild. It starts with trading mundane items and can be upgraded to letting you buy Idols, Exalted Weapons, and beyond.

What Are the Differences Between the Merchant’s Guild and Circle of Fortune?

Merchant’s Guild is purely about opening up the trade function with players, while Circle of Fortune is about better item drops and Prophecies given by the Observatory. Both of these hubs are in Maj’Elka, and both require you to make significant progress in the game. This gives you plenty of time to explore the game’s main features instead, of first.

Solo players may benefit more from Circle of Fortune, while online players will appreciate the Merchant’s Guild. You’re never locked to one guild, but you will need to leave one guild to benefit from the other. This information is clarified by Last Epoch in their game guide function. You can bring it up even when using the game’s chat, but we’re here to cut to the important specifics.
