The Expedition Intel found all over the overworld of FF7 Rebirth provides you with more intel that activation towers can’t. As you go on to discover each of these lifespring crystals, you’ll learn new planetary wisdom about each region. You’ll also make some new discoveries that wouldn’t have been uncovered otherwise. You can check out all of the other intel locations across different regions in our complete guide to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The Expedition Intel you find in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth provides you with two things: Region Intel and Discoveries. The Region Intel tells you more about the region you are in as you scan more lifespring crystals. You’ll also get intel on where to excavate for transmutable items and where tp find the region’s boss.

Grasslands

In the Grasslands, there are six lifespring crystals that you can find. Two of these lifespring crystals can be located in the grassier section while the other two can be found in the wasteland area. Upon scanning them all in, you can learn the following information:

  • Region Intel
    • Kalm: A Recent History
    • Flora and Fauna of the Grasslands
    • The Mythril Mine: Changing with the Times
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel 1: Bygone Settlement
    • Excavation Intel 2: Pipeline Depository
    • Classified Intel: Winged Lacertilian of Yore

Junon

Junon Expedition Intel

There are only four lifespring crystals in the Junon area. There are also only two Region Intel and two Discoveries to be made after finding all four locations.

  • Region Intel
    • The Rise and Fall of the Republic of Junon
    • Junon: The Fortress City
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel: The Scars of War
    • Classified Intel: The Whisperer in the Darkness

Corel Region

Corel Region has a total of six Expedition Intel locations that you can find. Two of these can be found in the area by Costa del Sol while the other four can be found in Corel Desert. In total, you can learn six new pieces of intel by scanning these in.

  • Region Intel
    • Costa del Sol: A Recent History
    • Corel: A Tale of Decline
    • The Rise of the Gold Saucer
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel 1: Valve Factory Ruins
    • Excavation Intel 2: Deserted Village
    • Classified Intel: Heavy Lies the Crown

Gongogo

Gongogo also has six Expedition Intel locations for Cloud to scan in. One is at the north end of the map while the other five are clustered in the center and south of the region. There are also six pieces of intel you can learn by visiting all of these locations:

  • Region Intel
    • Gongaga: A Recent History
    • Life in Gongaga
    • The Gongaga Mako Reactor Incident
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel 1: Mako-Laden Canyon
    • Excavation Intel 2: Wildgrove Ruins
    • Classified Intel: The Sultan of Stench

Cosmo Canyon

Another six Expedition Intel locations can be found in Cosmo Canyon. These locations can be found throughout the region, so I recommend snagging the region’s chocobo before doing anything else.

  • Region Intel
    • Cosmo Canyon: Environment Conditions
    • Life in Cosmo Canyon
    • The Cetra and the Gi
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel 1: Dilapidated Ship
    • Excavation Intel 2: Cosmo Range Ruins
    • Classified Intel: The Wyvern Awoken

Nibel

The Nibel Region only has four Expedition Intel locations for you to find. One of these locations, however, is located on an island. To get here, you’ll need the region’s chocobo to glide over the water and reach it.

  • Region Intel
    • Mt. Nibel and the Birth of Mako Energy
    • Nibelheim: A Recent History
  • Discoveries
    • Excavation Intel: Island Base
    • Classified Intel: Avian Tyrant
