DC is giving its popular MAX/Adult Swim series, My Adventures with Superman, the comic book treatment. An official tie-in comic for the animated series is coming from writer Josie Campbell (who is also a producer on the show) and artist Pablo M. Collar. This tie-in will bridge the gap between the end of Season 1 and the upcoming beginning of Season 2. DC also revealed the main cover for the first issue, as well as a variant from Gavin Guidry.

My Adventures with Superman follows Clark Kent as he juggles keeping his Superman identity a secret while exploring its origins. It also shows Lois Lane and the growing attraction between the two. Alongside photographer Jimmy Olsen, the three break the important stories of Metropolis and save the day against many villains. Now, this new comic will offer a new adventure for three that ties into the series’ hiatus between Seasons 1 and 2.

According to DC, the tie-in comic focuses on a Clark Kent who is down in the gutters while spending Christmas alone in Metropolis. However, a tip on some monster activity in the sewers sends Superman, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen down to investigate. Now, they must face a monster that can absorb anything it touches while trying to uncover why it is in Metropolis.

The creative team behind these My Adventures with Superman tie-in comics shared how it was taking a series from screen to page. Writer Josie Campbell is thrilled to get the opportunity to do such a thing. Especially as it means bringing more Superman to more fans. As for the story, this is one that Campbell and co discussed in the show’s writer’s room. However, it did not fit in with season one’s space. The tie-in comic will be more like a lost episode that readers will watch unfold in each issue.

Meanwhile, artist Pablo M. Collar fell in love with the show the moment they saw the announcement of the series. Naturally, they jumped at the chance to work with Campbell on this comic tie-in and bring more Superman to the world.

My Adventures with Superman #1 is on sale 06/04.
