Overwatch 2 is Finally Destroying Those Awful Walls in Colosseo

A controversial map is getting an upheaval.

Overwatch 2 is reworking some maps in upcoming seasons, and one map slated for a pretty substantial rework is the controversial Push map, Colosseo. Push maps are new to Overwatch 2, and while players have mostly gotten used to the fresh game mode, Colosseo remains an unpopular map due to some frustrating design decisions. Fortunately, Blizzard will tackle one of the most irritating parts of the map in the upcoming Colosseo rework.

Colosseo has two particular pain points in Overwatch 2, but the biggest is easily the initial fight players take. Colosseo’s initial objective is located in one straight, winding hallway with a couple of corridors to take cover. However, due to the verticality of the choke point, action tends to be clumped up and stalemate-y, with fights often lasting a long time. The worst pain point is the glass walls that prevent any reasonable flanking.

Fortunately for players, an interview with Dexerto shed some light on the upcoming Colosseo rework. Aaron Keller had this to say about the controversial choke point: “The first one is really the Colosseum part of it. Itโ€™s a pretty long area and youโ€™re hemmed in as both teams with these glass walls that are in the middle. It just doesnโ€™t give you a lot of options as a player so a lot of the time, what teams do is they need to stay really far back in order to engage there.โ€

In addition to removing the unpopular glass walls, Keller also stated the team will look at another point of the map, the symmetrical bridges that create a difficult choke to push through. According to Keller, the team will add “additional buffer areas” to the side of this point, allowing attackers and defenders to traverse through more space.

Other maps with slightly outdated designs are set to receive some reworks as well, including (but likely not limited to) maps like Circuit Royale, Dorado, Havana, and Numbani. Keller revealed some specifics about the Numbani rework, with the biggest change likely to reduce the distance between the initial attackers’ spawn and objective.
