Marvel is turning up the heat this summer with its brand-new series, Aliens Vs. Avengers. This four-part story brings the terrifying Xenomorphs from the Aliens franchise to the Marvel Universe. It also brings legendary writer and creator Jonathan Hickman back together with Secret Wars collaborator Esad Ribic. Together, the creative duo brings the Xenomorphs to Earth, where they will come face-to-face with its protectors. However, who will come out on top when Earth’s mightiest face off with the universe’s perfect killing machine?

Aliens Vs. Avengers is the first crossover between Marvel and the Aliens franchise. The four-issue series takes place in a new timeline within the Marvel Universe. It takes place many years in the future and features much older and grittier versions of Marvel characters. By the looks of the debut issue’s cover, this includes Captain America, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. Plus, the series will be the first time that fans see certain parts of Alien lore in the Marvel Universe. This includes things like the home of the Engineers.

The four-part series ponders what would happen if the superhumans of Marvel went toe-to-toe with Xenomorphs. After all, while the Avengers are filled with superpowers, the Xenomorph race is meant to be ultimate killing species. Can Captain America’s super strength overpower the sleek cat-like reflexes of the Xenomorph? What will happen when Captain Marvel blasts a Xenomorph and gets covered in acid blood?

A Great Summer Read

Speaking about the new series, Jonathan Hickman shared what was really fun about the process. It includes finding ways to “Avengerize” Aliens and “Alien-up” the Avengers. He shared that fans will be surprised with how elegantly some of these elements fit together. In fact, it may be one of those “chocolate-and-peanut-butter” situations.

Also speaking on Aliens Vs. Avengers is Marvel editor Sarah Brunstad. She claims that Hickman and Ribic are storyteller masters and they bring the high action of Marvel together wonderfully with the terror and horror of Aliens. She warns fans to be ready for anything in this upcoming series.

Aliens Vs. Avengers is on sale 07/24 just in time for the premiere of the Alien: Romulus film.
