Bethesda knows just how much you love roaming around its wastelands, so in light of the increased popularity of Fallout 76, they are poised to add a new large region to the Appalachia. It’s called the Skyline Valley and as usual, it comes with new features and additional content to shoot your way through. Here’s everything you’ll need to know before Fallout 76 Skyline Valley drops.

Skyline Valley Release Date

(Updated on September 12, 2024 – updated links and format)

(The Skyline Valley update officially released on June 12.)

You can already visit Skyline Valley, however, despite the June 2024 release date. All you have to do is volunteer in the current ongoing Public Test Realm (PTR). The PTR for the Skyline Valley update runs from April 18 presumably up until May 2024 as it will be split into two parts.

Additionally, the developers recommend nuking the whole region over and over again for some reason. So do what you will with the new Fallout 76 map. Still, it’s worth noting that any progress in the PTR will not carry over to the main game. Once Skyline Valley gets released, you’ll have to start over with the new area progress.

The map is sizable enough and takes up a big chunk of the Appalachia. You’ll be able to find the Skyline Valley down south of the map, past the Savage Divide. It’s between Ash Heap and Cranberry Bog.

There’s a total of around 30+ new locations to explore, some of which are likely tied to new questlines. And when there are quests, you can expect more rewards.

Based on the game’s official art, it appears some kind of catastrophic science experiment is also happening in Skyline Valley, notably with the tried-and-tested laser in the sky trope. That usually means something world-threatening is about to happen.

In addition to the new map locations and points of interest, a couple of new public events will also be available:

  • Dangerous Pastimes
  • Fasnacht

Those two are already accessible for anyone who joined the PTR, however. Dangerous Pastimes is available first and it will be replaced by Fasnact on April 27 in the PTR’s duration. And again, Dangerous Pastimes will replace Fasnacht on April 29.

Beyond the obvious secret quest rewards and new loot, along with the new public events, the Skyline Valley update will also come with some balancing, particularly for enemies and falloff for weapon damage. All that’s left is to wait for this new wasteland area.
