Taylor Swift’s songwriting abilities have been praised and there is no denying she is an incredibly successful artist with a legion of loyal fans. Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19, 2024, has already proved to be a massive success and has broken Spotify records. Only days later after the album dropped, it had earned the title of “Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single week.” Impressive, right? Well, it only gets better.
Did Taylor Swift’s Songwriting Abilities Break New Records?
On April 24, 2024, Spotify reported that Taylor Swift’s new album had also surpassed a billion streams, breaking a record for the most-streamed album in a single week. This is the first in the streaming service’s history.
“Adding to the medal count, on April 19, 2024, the album became the first in Spotify history to reach over 300 million streams in a single day. Also on April 19, its debut single, Fortnight (feat. Post Malone), became the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify history,” the press release reads.
This makes The Tortured Poets Department even more successful than her previous album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Is Taylor Swift’s Relationships The Inspiration For Her New Music?
Taylor Swift’s relationships have long been a source of inspiration for her, and her new songs are no different. There are claims that several of her tracks are about her exes, Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy. The lyrics that refer to Healy specifically can be found on the track, The Tortured Poets Department.
“You left your typewriter at my apartment / Straight from the tortured poets department / I think some things I never say / Like, ‘Who uses a typewriter anyway?'” This is the verse that is believed to be about him and his love of typewriters. Healy recently reacted in an interview (via ET). “I haven’t really listened to that much of it,” he said, “but I’m sure it’s good.”
Taylor Swift is currently in a committed relationship with Travis Kelce, so perhaps their coupling will provide her with the inspiration for her future music.
