Remedy’s Control Multiplayer Game Entering Production & Max Payne Remakes To Follow

They’re on their way.

The Finnish video game development studio, Remedy, has given an update on all the projects the team is currently working on. The games that the studio is working on include a multiplayer game in the Control universe, a sequel of Control (possibly titled Control 2), and remakes of older Max Payne games as well. Remedy’s schedule may seem packed, but not all of the games are going into full development simultaneously. This means we’ll have a steady stream of games from the studio in the years to come.

The multiplayer game in the Control universe is codenamed Condor, and it has moved into full production, meaning it is currently in the last stage of development before being announced and subsequently released.

Remedy is confident when it comes to the gameplay loop. According to all the internal playtests the game brings a new take to the genre. The game has a budget of $27.1 million and will come out on current-generation consoles and PC. It will be a fixed-price live-service game, not free-to-play. That is all we know about the upcoming game until Remedy officially reveals it.

As for the other games the studio is working on, the next games in the pipeline are the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes. Both games will go into full-on development in Q2 of 2024. We can’t judge what stage the game is in internally since each studio classifies it differently.

Control 2 is also close to production readiness state, and should reach it in Q2 2024 as well. This news comes along with the announcement that Tencent, the Chinese video gaming giant, has increased its stake in Remedy to 14.8%. If other investments are to be believed, this shouldn’t make much of a difference in the out of Remedy, like it didn’t with other studios.
