How To Use and Restore Waveplates in Wuthering Waves

Fun in small portions

Whether you’re new or a veteran in gacha games, you should know that Wuthering Waves also time-gates, or rather, resource-gates some of its content behind Waveplates. The easiest way to describe Waveplates is by comparing them to Genshin Impact‘s Resin and Honkai: Star Rail‘s Trailblaze Power. This resource will allow you to do a finite number of activities before it runs out. While that sounds a bit limited, there is one way to restore your Waveplates, assuming you don’t mind spending your hard-earned premium currency.

Recharging Waveplates in Wuthering Waves

Once you progress far enough through Wuthering Waves‘ story, you’ll see Waveplates appear on your inventory. They are easier to spot by opening your map and looking at the top right corner. There, you’ll see a maximum of 240 Waveplates. This number will decrease whenever you do any of the activities that require this resource. That means once you deplete your Waveplates, you can’t do any other type of content unless you have the means to recharge them. To do so, you can do any of the following:

  • Use 60 Astrite to restore 60 Waveplates.
  • Use one Crystal Solvent to restore 60 Waveplates.

Personally, I don’t recommend doing either, at least for now. Astrite should only be spent on premium currency, such as the one needed for the featured banners. And while Crystal Solvents are good for restoring Waveplates, I recommend saving them for later. The game’s 1.0 version featured a lot of things to do, but like any other gacha, you’ll get more characters in the future, so saving Crystal Solvents to do one big farming day is much better.

Using Waveplates

However, if you want to use your daily Waveplate amount in Wuthering Waves, I won’t stop you. On the contrary, here’s a list of all the activities you can do with this currency.

  • Simulation Training
    • Resonance Potion: 40 Waveplates
    • Energy Core: 40 Waveplates
    • Shell Credit: 40 Waveplates
  • Tacet Fields (Bosses): 60 Waveplates

Depending on the materials you’re farming, you might want to focus one day on Tacet Fields and another on Simulation Training. For newcomers, let me remind you that gacha games are grindy. And on top of that, they time-gate most activities. However, this is great for those who prefer to play in small doses and at their own pace. As we always say, don’t rush Wuthering Waves‘ activities; just log in, spend your daily Waveplates, do your dailies, and return the next day to continue this slow but rewarding journey.
