The NA LCS Spring Split Finals are among fans everywhere for League of Legends. On Sunday, April 23 at 3:00 PM (this coming weekend!) the showdown between Cloud9 and TSM will hit the rift. Check out the promo video for the matchup below.

These teams were the favorites to make it to the Spring Split Finals when they both made it to Worlds and the finals of last year’s Summer Split. It was Cloud9 who ended up progressing further than TSM in Worlds, but both showed promise for the next year. Well, now that the first half of the season is over, and the Spring Finals are here, the chance to prove who’s best is here.

The Spring Split has less of an impact on a team’s chance to make it to the World Championships this year. The winner of the Summer Split, on the other hand, punches a ticket to Worlds automatically (last year was TSM). It’s clear that doing better in the Summer Split is more important, but doing well in the Spring is still crucial. If a team gets last place in the Spring–therefore granting them less Championship Points–then their chances of making it to Worlds are low. Well, if they end up winning the finals in the Summer, then I guess it doesn’t matter. But usually that’s not the case, and teams who place low in the Spring end up placing low in the Summer as well. Even if they make it to a higher spot in the Summer, their chances of getting to Worlds are still low.

Although Cloud9 won Game 1 of last year’s Summer Split finals, they fell to TSM in 3 games.

Taking all of that into account, the team to win the Spring Split will take home more Championship Points than the other. This may not be the same as getting an automatic entry to Worlds, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. After all, the three teams that make it to Worlds will be as follows: 1) Summer Split Champion, 2) Team with most Championship Points, and 3) Winner of Regional Finals. Statistically speaking, both Cloud9 and TSM have the best active players in the playoffs. If these players continue to be the best at their respective roles in the NA LCS, then fans are in for quite the treat.
