What Does DBNO Mean in The First Descendant? Answered

Can’t they use more common terms for once?

Auxillary Power, Sensors, Memory, and Processors are your equipment slots in Nexon’s looter shooter. Aside from increasing HP, shield, and defense, rarer gear can give you additional passive stat bonuses as well. Among dozens of helpful buffs, ranging from HP and MP regen to element resistance, there is a mysterious one called “DBNO.” What does DBNO mean and is it actually a good buff for your The First Descendant build?

DBNO is short for “Down But Not Out,” the state when your Descendant loses all of their health points and crawls on all fours on the floor. In most multiplayer shooter games, this condition is referred to as “Downed.”

Other players have around 10 seconds to revive you during DBNO before your Descendant is out. You can also hold the X key on the keyboard to abandon the DBNO and automatically respawn. Failing to be revived or abandoning the DBNO state will consume the mission’s life limit.

Most missions will give your party 5 lives; however, if you are running a mission alone you won’t get DBNO when your Descendant is defeated. Instead, you will instantly respawn and consume the mission’s life limit. Special quests like solo-only parts of Descendant Exclusive Quests can give you up to 8 times Downed limit.

That means, if you equip The First Descendant gear with a DBNO duration bonus, your teammates will have more time to come and get you. For example, a 0.19x bonus DBNO duration would add 1.9 seconds to your Downed state– making it a total of 11.9 seconds.

With all being said, the DBNO buff on your The First Descendant gear is only useful when running a party. No one can revive you during a solo run and every single second counts in Void Intercept raids.

The First Descendant is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
