Following her riveting performance that tore the internet up, Gaga took to Instagram to share how she felt. Alongside photos of her opening ceremony look, the Alejandro singer expressed deep gratitude for getting the opportunity. “I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris @Olympics 2024 this year. I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song,” she wrote.
Gaga showered praises on Jeanmaire, celebrating her legacy and recalling an interaction they had before her death in July 2020. They crossed paths on the set of Cole Porter’s musical Anything Goes. The 13-time Grammy winner also expressed her deep love for France and its culture.
“Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with French people and singing French musicโI wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France.”
Gaga, who used to dance at a 60โs French party at the start of her career, recalled rehearsing “tirelessly” to study French choreography. She concluded the touching message, writing, “To everyone in France, thank you so much for welcoming me to your country to sing in honor of youโitโs a gift Iโll never forget!”

Gaga’s performance of “Mon Truc En Plumes” kicked off with a dramatic opening. The 38-year-old descended down the stairs while covered in pink feathers, reminiscent of her Jazz and Piano residency. After coming down the stairs, Gaga proceeded to play the piano, concluding the concert.
