According to Newsweek, Jennifer Lopez’s net worth is considerably more than Ben Affleck’s $150 million. Legal expert Vanessa Lloyd Platt now tells the outlet that Lopez might stand to lose a huge amount of money if she and Affleck do decide on divorce.

“The relationship between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has always been somewhat volatile,” Platt said. “In the first phase of their relationship, when they first came together, it was alleged that a prenup had been drawn up, which not only protected their assets but protected the relationship from infidelity.”
Platt suggested that Lopez and Affleck‘s original prenup caused a problem and put major stress on their relationship. Of course, the couple never made it down the aisle the first time around. However, when they tied the knot nearly 20 years later, the prenup may have become an issue yet again.
“It is now suggested that having caused a problem the first time round, the parties may not have entered into a prenuptial agreement on this occasion,” Platt added. “This has meant that Jennifer Lopez’s fortune may potentially be at risk.”
The expert claims that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may also opt for a post-nuptial agreement, which would protect their finances and any assets that they acquired during their marriage.
“In the meantime, given that this has been a very short marriage, I do not believe that Ms. Lopez fortune will be as much at risk,” Platt quipped. “As to whether this divorce will affect the careers of both of the parties going forward, it will have absolutely no effect for either of them given their high profiles.”
At this time, neither Jennifer Lopez nor Ben Affleck have publicly commented about their marriage. However, OK! Magazine claims that when they do announce their split, it will come in the form of a joint statement.
