The Black Ops 6 Beta Weapon Progression System Slaps Hercules’ Labors Right In the Face

“Work Work Work Work Work”

Errors and connectivity issues aside, Black Ops 6 probably has been one of the best beta tests in the Call of Duty franchise. The game’s features and super meta weapons combined with the chaotic Omnimovement make the experience a blast for fans of the shooter genre. But for some reason, Treyarch don’t let you max out every weapon. The Black Ops 6 beta weapon progression system shows no mercy to players as if Victor Reznov himself has designed the damn thing.

First, the level cap for each weapon in Black Ops 6 beta is over 40. That’s just way too much compared to the previous Call of Duty titles where you reach level six and you’ve already got everything you need. But maybe they allow you to level up your weapons faster this time in Black Ops 6 beta? Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but… no.

You play for two hours and the highest you can go is to level 10. If you’re lucky and your friends have the game too, you can boost this number to 15 by using the double XP that you can get. So if you’re planning for an all-out experience with every single weapon in the game, you need to put some serious time into this.

Now, to be honest, I’m a fan of this system. Back in the day, Call of Duty wasn’t so generous to give you every attachment in three Small Maps Moshpit matches like MW3 currently does. The Black Ops 6 beta weapon progression system makes every attachment and level worth it. And with the new things you get, you’re definitely upgrading your weapon.

On every level, you get an extra part for your gun that’d only make it better thanks to the no-penalties policy of the game. Like if you grind to reach level 43 with the C9 SMG, you unlock the super meta Rapid Fire attachment that doubles your gun’s effectiveness with the least recoil to deal with.

The only problem here is that Treyarch could have lowered the level cap of the weapons. Well, in the beta at least. I mean, it’s not like we’re taking all that we grind for here to the main game, right? And if I’m putting in 12 hours to max out my C9 for a beta test, it limits my experience to try other guns in the game, which is a bit of a bummer.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
