If you don’t know who Ken Levine is, then you’re really on the wrong website. Writer and lead designer for the award winning Bioshock franchise. This guy has forgotten more about creating awesome video games than many other designers ever learned in the first place. He also loves writing plots about seemingly ‘perfect’ societies that are actually hiding very dark secrets. His plots love to make your head spin.

Basically, if you find yourself drowning your alternate past self to prevent your alternate future self from taking your daughter; you’re playing a Ken Levine game.

Following the massive success of Bioshock Infinite, Ken decided that he was bored of making big budget games. Closing Irrational Games (the studio that he founded) he began working on a smaller project for Take Two.

What that project is, remains a mystery but in a recent interview with Game Informer, Ken decided to give a few hints about what to expect.

The Bioshock creator feels that the player character should have passions wants and needs;

‘The player now has the ability to facilitate those wants or needs or go against those wants or needs or ignore those wants or needs.’

He notes that while you had some freedom of choice in Bioshock, you ended up with one of two fixed endings. He adds that the new game will have fluid relationships with NPCs. This will drastically alter their role in the ending.

An avid gamer since Nintendo vs Sega was a thing, Joe hopes to one day be a game designer himself. When he's not working on his design document for his planned 'Joe is awesome' RPG, he spends his time writing, going to track days and going to his local cinema.
