Does The Wild Robot Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Will we see a sequel?

A robot designed to help humanity gets stuck on an island filled with wildlife in the newest offering from Dreamworks Animation, The Wild Robot. Written and directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch), it’s based on a book by Peter Brown. The film features the voice talents of Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Kit Connor (Heartstopper), and Bill Nighy (Love Actually). As it is based on a book, you might be wondering if the film’s ending sets up a sequel. So, let’s see if The Wild Robot has any post-credits scenes.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene in The Wild Robot?

If you don’t want to miss any moment of the movie you will want to stay in your seats until the end of the credits because The Wild Robot does have a post-credits scene. The credits begin with various scenes from throughout the film playing alongside them. The post-credits scene is located at the end of the film, so you’ll need to watch the credits in their entirety if you want to see everything. It’s a comedic stinger and doesn’t tease a sequel. While you wait, you can watch the names of the excellent animators crawl by.

As for a sequel, The Wild Robot doesn’t leave many threads hanging. However, future films could adapt the other two books in the series by Peter Brown. So, if this film does well at the box office, it would be very surprising for the movie not to spawn a franchise. Dreamworks is also quite guilty of milking franchises like Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, so it wouldn’t be surprising for The Wild Robot to get the same treatment, even if the post-credits scene didn’t tease a sequel.

Unlike some of those aforementioned franchises, it would be relatively simple to retain the cast for future films because the main cast of The Wild Robot is so small. Even if you branch out to the supporting cast, that only adds up to eight names that would need to return. But, we’ll ultimately need to wait and see how it does at the box office before speculating further. Although, if the film’s quality is any indication, this probably won’t be the last time you hear about The Wild Robot.
