However, since 2017, the Rocket Man hitmaker has been continuously plagued with one serious health issue after another. At age 77, he struggles to hide the truth from his family, friends, and fans.
Sources close to Elton John tell Closer Weekly that the singer faces the harsh reality of aging. The singer’s health is in rapid decline. Recently, John began suffering issues affecting his mobility. This has come as quite a shock to him, and according to insiders, the singer can barely walk and has resorted to desperate measures to keep his condition hidden.
This new development adversely affects Elton John’s body and ego. He is very proud, and admitting he can no longer do what he is used to doing is a real blow. So, to save face, he has been trying to come up with new ways to hide his issues.
“Elton refuses to be seen as weak,” says an insider. “He’s so determined to maintain his larger-than-life image. But the truth is he can hardly move without help. He doesn’t know where he’s going half the time.” Instead of entirely depending on wheelchairs, Elton has used flashy golf carts to get around in public, hiding the truth and saving himself some embarrassment.
Elton John Fears Missing Out On His Children’s Milestones
The music icon’s list of health concerns continues to grow. He is dealing with persistent hip and knee trouble, prostate cancer, type 2 diabetes, and, most recently, a severe eye infection that left him partially blind.
Elton John understands that many new concerns and fears come at this stage of his life. However, lately, it seems that his failing health issues have become a more significant worry not only for him but for his family.
His two young sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, have begun sharing their concerns for their dad, Elton, and his husband, David Furnish. โThey think about my mortality. They worry about my mortality. Not so much David, but me. (They) love their daddy, so they want me to be around forever, (and) I would love to be around forever.โ
Elton also admits he has been giving his life a lot of thought. He wants to embrace every moment he has with his children. John admits he hopes he will stick around to see his children grow and share in their major milestones.
โI want to see them have children and get married. I donโt think Iโm going to be around for that. Who knows? You never know. So thatโs why I want to use the best time โ the best of my time โ while Iโm around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious.โ
