Yes to fingers, no to dawgs

Donald Trump takes campaigning to new levels as he hauls chicken fingers at Football fans at the Alabama/Georgia game, creating a ruckus. The former POTUS seemingly stabbed himself in the legs during the US presidential debate this month with his claims that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were stealing and eating pets. His infamous “they’re eating the dogs” quote quickly gained traction across media platforms, even spurring its own parodic song, Eating the Cats.

However, the ripple effect of Trump’s false claims didn’t end there. Aside from spurring numerous memes across the internet, many have also taken to mocking the presidential candidate with a taste of his own words at every turn. Donald Trump experienced this in full force on Saturday while attending the Alabam vs Georgia Football game in Tuscaloosa.

During the games, the politician, who shared a box with Kid Rock, adopted an unusual campaign strategy, hauling boxes of Chicken fingers at fans. A video from the event shared by TMZ showed Donald Trump at the Alabama game carrying several boxes of his goodies and throwing them at excited Football fans as they chanted “Trump, Trump, Trump!” However, in between the continuous hailing, chants of “They’re eating the dogs” could be heard from the audience, seemingly mocking the former president’s now-viral quote.

Notably, city officials in Springfield have addressed the pet-eating claims Trump pushed during the ABC presidential debate. According to them, these claims have no credible reports to prove they actually happened per BBC. US National Security Council spokesperson has also condemned Trump’s running mate, DJ Vance, for doubling down on the “false” claims on social media, describing it as a dangerous conspiracy theory riddled with elements of racism.

Despite the lack of evidential backing, many Trump supporters believe the pet-eating claims had a level of truth in them. Earlier this month, staunch Trump supporter Amber Rose spoke to reporters at the LAX, claiming she had seen videos of Ohio residents reporting their pets stolen and eaten. She also pointed out that some Haitian families consider cats and dogs as staples in their menus. Hence, one shouldn’t be quick to write off Donald Trump’s pet-eating claims. Regardless, with his latest chicken fingers stunt at the Alabama/Georgia games, though, it appears even Donald Trump is buying into the comical factor in the pet-eating scandal, offering an alternative food source.
