Red Dead Redemption & Undead Nightmare Will Haunt PC on Oct. 29, Just in Time for Halloween

After years of waiting, Rockstar Games is finally giving PC players a chilling treat this Halloween season. Red Dead Redemption and its spooky expansion, Undead Nightmare, are set to haunt PC via Steam and Epic Store on October 29, 2024. Collaborating with Double Eleven, this enhanced version rises from the grave with new features and upgrades.

Rockstar promises the PC version will feature stunning technical improvements, including:

  • Native 4K resolution at up to 144hz.
  • Ultrawide and Super Ultrawide monitor support (21:9 and 32:9).
  • HDR10 support.
  • Full keyboard and mouse functionality.

There’s more under the hood too, at least in the visual settings department. Players can look forward to NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0 upscaling, DLSS Frame Generation, and highly customizable graphic options. This makes the PC release of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare the most graphically advanced edition yet.

Unfortunately, for those who are looking forward to reliving the chaos of the original Redemption Multiplayer, you might be in for a disappointment. The Steam store page listed Red Dead Redemption as a single-player game only — there is no mention of the PvP and PvE multiplayer mode.

Red Dead Redemption debuted in 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 following 2004’s Red Dead Revolver to critical acclaim. In the same year, Undead Nightmare launched, following John Marston’s quest to cure a zombie plague in an alternate timeline of the original story. PC gamers had to wait another year after the classic Wild West adventure was remastered for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on August 2023.

Before Rockstar drops the official announcement, dedicated fans have uncovered hints regarding the Red Dead Redemption PC port. First, the PlayStation Network accidentally mentioned “PC” in the PlayStation version page. Then, just last month, an X user uncovered updated metadata and App ID for a PC release on the SteamDB website.

Sadly, it seems the multiplayer has been laid to rest for this release. Nevertheless, there’s no better way to spend the spooky season than by reliving the bittersweet singleplayer campaign. So saddle up and get ready for a ghastly good time with Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare‘s PC port.
