The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp recently filed for divorce from her husband, Edwin Arroyave. The news came earlier this week when the former diamond holder shared it with her followers on Instagram. In the emotional post, the reality star told her fans that she’d come to the decision after a “great deal of consideration.”
The pair first married in 2011. Since then, they’ve had three children: two girls and one son. Teddi and Edwin also showcased their family life on three seasons of Bravo’s Real Housewives. Mellencamp, who’s the daughter of famous singer John Mellencamp, revealed that her biggest concern amid her split with Edwin was her children. She continued, saying she wants to ensure their “privacy and wellbeing” is being respected in their new chapter.
Later, Teddi confirmed that she had no plans on making a public announcement; however, it was her only choice to protect her family from “speculation and rumors.” She finished: “I felt being open, honest, and vulnerable was the best path forward.”
Teddi’s Split From Edwin Was Caused by Trauma and Infidelity
According to a report from The Sun, Teddi had been ready to file for divorce from her husband Edwin. A source told the publication that splitting was “100% Teddi’s decision.” They added that the reality star had dealt with “a lot of pain” for years before pulling the trigger.
The source also claimed that Teddi and Edwin “had to work through” many serious issues during their marriage. Eventually, Mellencamp went on a spiritual journey, leading her to “forgive and trust again.” But that’s not all. Apparently, when Teddi was filming her first season of RHOBH, she was “secretly fighting a lot of trauma no one except Kyle [Richards] knew about.”
“But again, wanted to keep her family together so they worked through it privately.”
Teddi, however, wasn’t alone during this process. The source revealed that Kyle was a huge support for her throughout filming. “She kept her secrets and didn’t expose it for the cameras,” they said. “Teddi confided in Kyle, and they built that sister-like trust.”
Teddi’s Bestie Friend Kyle Is Also Fighting a Divorce
Teddi’s divorce from Edwin isn’t the only split the Beverly Hills Housewives are going through. Kyle is also in the middle of a nasty divorce from her husband of nearly 30 years, Mauricio Umansky. The news of their split first hit the Bravosphere in the summer of 2023. Shortly after, Kyle and Mo denied the rumors; however, they admitted to having a tough year of marriage.
Months later, Kyle confirmed their split on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, saying she jumpstarted the move. “It originated from me, I would say,” she said.
During the RHOBH reunion special, Kyle tearfully shared more news about her relationship with Mauricio. She revealed that her real-estate tycoon husband had done many things to break her trust; however, she wouldn’t reveal what those actions were.
Eventually, the Housewives OG seemed to move on completely as she was seen around town with country singer Morgan Wade. Rumors have continued to swirl, with several fans and watchers wondering if their friendship is anything more than that. Kyle’s co-stars thought she may have been more than friendly with Wade, too. “It looked like you guys were girlfriends,” Dorit Kemsley said during the reunion.
Since then, there hasn’t been much news about Kyle’s marriage with Mo or budding friendship with Morgan. However, the new season of RHOBH airs on Bravo in mid-November. So, if you’re waiting to hear what’s new with the 90210 girls, be sure to tune in.
