  • Why Did Bravo Fire the Original Cast of Pump Rules?

Jax Taylor has finally broken his silence about Bravo deciding to reboot Vanderpump Rules — and it looks like he’s got the last laugh. In case you forgot, Bravo announced that, after months of deliberation, they decided to fire the show’s original cast. That means longtime watchers won’t get their dose of Scheana Shay and James Kennedy. However, there’s a small chance some of the all-stars can make their way to The Valley. The latter is a new show, created by Jax Taylor and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, that aired on the network in early 2023. It also featured more familiar faces, including Kristen Doute.

Although Jax hasn’t been part of VPR for the last few years, he did share a farewell message to the show on his Instagram. In his caption, he stated that the show would always have a “part” of his heart. He went on to say that he and his friends began the show as struggling bartenders. However, living their real lives turned into a “pop culture phenomenon.” Taylor continued, saying that now is the time for his Pump Rules friends to join his world. “See ya soon….on MY show,” he said. “But for real this time.”

Ever since Jax left Vanderpump Rules, fans have been begging for his return. He did have a brief stint on House of Villains. However, that reality star wasn’t in his natural habitat there, which only left viewers wanting more. He came back to Bravo in The Valley, but could his friends be joining him?

Well, Jax has said before that he doesn’t want anyone from Vanderpump Rules to appear in future seasons of The Valley. “I personally don’t think we need to bring anyone from Vanderpump Rules over,” he said on his podcast. “I’m not trying to make this Vanderpump Rules,” Jax remarked. “As of right now, that is a no. It is a hard no. But who knows, it could change. If we have parties, absolutely.”

But just because Jax wants it, it doesn’t mean that he gets it.

According to Deadline, Season 2 will feature Lala, Scheana, Brock Davies, and Tom Schwartz.

In an official press release, VPR executive producer Alex Baskin praised the original cast for their unprecedented run on television. “With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together,” he said.

Why Did Bravo Fire the Original Cast of Pump Rules?

The news that Bravo fired the original stars of Vanderpump Rules surprised everyone—except the cast.

According to People, an inside source told them that the show’s veterans were waiting for the news. After all, they haven’t been a tight group of friends since Tom Sandoval’s affair with Raquel Leviss. Season 11 was also a challenge, considering Ariana wouldn’t film with certain castmates. This caused frustration among the group, especially with Lala, which led to her fractured relationship with Madix.

Per the source, they are happy to have an answer about the status of the show finally.

They also shared more about why the show was revamped entirely. As detailed in the report, with the strained friendships, it didn’t “make sense” to continue the series. Bravo hopes that the new cast will breathe new life into what was once a wildly popular show for the network.

“Fans will be happy with what they see. It’s going to feel like a return to form.”
