Call of Dutyย made a huge comeback this year with the release ofย Black Ops 6, especially for the Zombies community. However, bugs, servers, and cheaters are making people say thatย Call of Dutyย is, in fact, “dying” under every single post fromย CoDย social media posts, whether it is X, YouTube, Instagram, or anywhere else.ย But if you sayย Black Ops 6ย specifically is dying, thenย why are we still playing this game?
We’ve said this before and it’s worth mentioning a thousand times, with a company that has more than 10 studios working on CoD, the only thing that can kill Call of Duty is Call of Duty. That said, no other shooter has been capable of delivering Campaign, Multiplayer, and a Co-Op mode in a fashion that Call of Duty does every year, and that’s why it’s still standing high on the ranks. Here are a few reasons why Black Ops 6 is still the second-most-played game on Xbox and PS.
Addictive Gameplay With Too Much Content and Rewards

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is launched with a skinny playlist in Multiplayer, but the rewards are way too much to handle in a few weeks. We’ve got 10 prestige ranks to grind for, the prestige master, camo rewards, Dark Ops challenges, and a ton of achievements to unlock.
So when people invest their time into these and grind to unlock,ย suddenlyย Black Ops 6ย becomes an everyday routine for the players.ย Not to mention,ย the game itself, with its new gameplay mechanics, is way too addictive to ignore after playing it for a couple of hours.ย The sound effects, medals, killstreaks, Omnimovement, andย mostย importantlyย thisย year, round-based Zombies are some of the best gameplay features ofย Black Ops 6.
Different Game Modes

Speaking of which, Call of Duty isn’t just a playlist of Multiplayer maps or a Campaign to finish and close the game after. You play a couple of MP matches, have fun dropping into Warzone, and then realize that it’s time to kill zombies. All in a single package that’s available on Game Pass. Makes sense to see full lobbies 24/7 in the game now, right?
Last time I checked, a game calledย XDefiantย wasย supposed to killย Call of Dutyย in its place by bringing OGย CoDย players back. But you see, OGย CoDย players did cry by watching Ghost and Roach die in the Campaign, played and mastered the Co-Op mode, and then had some fun grinding in theย MW2ย Multiplayer after. It’s a package, not a single game mode, that makesย Call of Duty.
Lack of Competitors

A good rival always pushes you to your limits, thus helping you make some progress.ย Thisย is whatย Call of Dutyย and a game likeย Battlefieldย had a time ago, and now it’s gone. Currently, it’sย Call of Dutyย andย Fortnite, and the latter makes more engagement for its crossovers and the fact that all players can play and enjoy it regardless of age. That’s outside ofย Call of Duty‘s competitors’ territory.
Social media Is Making Rare Bugs And Cheaters An Everyday Stress

You go on Reddit, X, or YouTube, and you’llย definitelyย find people posting videos of cheaters, bugs, and issues within the game with the caption “Call of Dutyย is dying.”ย Now, even if we consider these all legit, is thisย really what you experience every dayย when you are playing the game?ย I play almost 7-9 hours a day ofย Black Ops 6ย andย Warzoneย with my friendsย andI haven’t faced less than half of these issues to say thatย Call of Dutyย is a dying game.
Some bugs are undeniablyย badย in the game, and I’m not trying to cover anything here for the developers. Yes, theย solo Zombiesย isย not workingย properlyย in many regions. The loadout gets bugged and replaces your gun after youย come backfrom a match to the lobby. Andย there are more bugs that needย fixing, but they’re not breaking the game after all. But you tell me that the hit-reg in everyย singleย Warzoneย match doesn’t work? I mean, like, come on. In reality, cheaters are not swarming the lobbies, and hit-reg server issues are not happening on everyย singleย match you play.
Now,ย don’t get me wrong here: Activision, Treyarch, Raven Software, or whoever is in charge of these games has to fix the problems.ย What I’m saying is that these bugs are not killing anything. People are still enjoying the game, and the new content isย definitelyย welcome with every update. It’s just that it’d beย so damnย awesome if Activision invested more in polishing their games rather than forcing the developers to update the store with more bundles andย crossovers that have nothing to do withย CoD.
