Kate Middleton Goes Head-On With Williams to Protest Outdated Royal Tradition of Sending Her Son Away: ‘It’s Tradition’

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s son Prince George has little say in his school decision as Eton College remains a prospect. The debate over George’s educational future has been a hot topic within the royal fold for years, as each involved party has a say. William would rather stick to the royal tradition of sending off his son to boarding school at Eton College, the single-sex school he and his brother Prince Harry attended. However, Kate is more in tune with her alma mater, Marlborough College, a co-ed school that holds many beautiful memories for her and her siblings.

After many back-and-forth over the school situation, the couple have reportedly reached a compromise, looking into a third option that involves Prince George attending neither Eton College nor Marlborough. Reports suggest the royal parents are considering St Edward’s School in Oxford, which attracts a sessional fee of ยฃ47000.

According to sources, Prince William and Kate Middleton believe St Edward’s School to be a good fit for their son Prince George, who is second in line to the British throne. The couple reportedly visited the school earlier this year before Kate’s planned abdominal surgery. The compromise just might mark the end of the long-prevailing dispute between the Wales couple over their son’s school. An insider previously discussed the real reason Kate Middleton was averted to the idea of sending her son to Eton College, divulging,

“Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-class institution goes against all of their effort to modernize the monarchy… Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away even though it’s tradition.”

For the royal couple, St. Edward’s School just might be a blend of the rigid, gender-segregated upper-class walls of Eton College and the independent, co-educational system Marlborough offers. Additionally, it falls in line with Kate Middleton and Prince William’s commitment to ushering in a new and modern monarchial era in tune with the functioning of modern society.

Although the couple’s final verdict on George’s secondary school education is yet to be revealed, putting the youngster’s education up for debate despite existing traditions is a step towards a new and modern monarchy. Yet, one would think letting the young prince have a significant say on his preferred school, albeit as a tiebreaker in his parents’ dispute, would be a safer bet, and, dare I say, a more modern approach.
