Gal Gadot bared her soul on Instagram about the trauma she faced during her latest pregnancy. The Wonder Woman actor admitted that sharing such a personal story about her experience is something she wrestled with over time. However, her main goal is to pour her feelings out to her fans and raise awareness for other moms out there. The Israeli actress mentioned on Instagram that letting her heart out is her way of ‘processing’ what happened to her.

People like to believe that celebrities are superhumans but fail to realize that they are normal human beings, too. They go through the same hurtful experiences that people do and sometimes, they face scrutinization for it. Many pregnant women go through some degree of trauma before or after childbirth that takes a toll on them. Thankfully, Gadot wants to turn this experience into a teachable moment and try to raise awareness for unsuspecting moms.

Speaking about her ordeal via her Instagram page, the Red Notice actress said, “Perhaps this is my way of processing everything, of pulling back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media.” Additionally, she wrote, “Most of all, I hope that by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar.” According to the star, during her eighth month, doctors diagnosed her with a “massive blood clot” in her brain. At the time, she endured “excruciating headaches” before the diagnosis. Hearing about the blood clot, she said, “was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and amid a most difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”

She continues by describing how she “underwent emergency surgery” within hours of getting to the hospital. Per her statement, she chose her daughter’s name, “Ori,” meaning “light,” based on the circumstances of her birth. She said, “I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.” She thanked her doctors at Cedars Sinai Hospital for their expert care and expressed gratitude for her life and healing. Since the Instagram post went viral, it has garnered over 1.8 million likes and counting.

Well-wishers have since camped in her comment section, expressing their support and admiration for her strength. “She’s Wonder Woman for a reason,” one commented, referencing her role as the DC superhero. “Grateful for your health and that of your daughter’s [heart emoji],” another wrote. Several of her industry colleagues also sent the Red Notice star some love. Jason Momoa, who co-starred with her in ‘Justice League,’ wrote, “Oh Mama, we love you.”

As she shared the story of her ordeal, Gadot took the opportunity to sensitize the public on an under-discussed issue. “Awareness matters,” she said. “I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (developed a blood clot in the brain.).” She mentioned the importance of early detection, as CVT is a treatable condition.

“While rare, it’s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it,” she wrote. The new mom also noted the importance of listening to our bodies, as pain and discomfort “often carry deeper meaning.”

Signing off, Gadot made it clear she wasn’t trying to “frighten anyone but to empower.”
