Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson have called it quits after 10 years of marriage. The former pop star turned fashion designer is now said to be poised for a career comeback. Sources claim that Jessica has been working on a heartbreak album for over a year, and now that it’s ready to go she’s announcing the end of her marriage. Fans haven’t heard new music from Simpson in years. However, this latest record may be getting “revenge” on the former NFL star.
According to The Daily Mail‘s sources, Jessica Simpson moved away from Eric Johnson in 2023. The singer packed her bags and headed to Nashville, where she began working on her latest project.
“It will be about her broken heart, so, yeah, I guess you can call it a revenge, a heartbreak album,’ a source told the outlet. “When Jessica writes music, she pours her heart into it and has no filter, it’s very personal. So the album will really be about the struggles she has been through at home. It is super emotional and shares her side of the story. She has been working on the album for years, there is a lot in there.”
Jessica and Eric officially announced their split on Tuesday. The singer penned a heartfelt statement about her marriage, which she shared with People Magazine. In the public declaration, Simpson called that split “painful” and revealed that they are completely focused on their three children, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. She also asked for privacy during the difficult time.

“He deserves a medal for putting up with her. He should get custody of the kids,” a third fan said of Eric Johnson.
Simpson and Johnson first met in 2010 thanks to a mutual friend. Their whirlwind romance moved quickly and they got engaged just six months into their relationship. However, before getting married, they welcomed their oldest two children in 2012 and 2013. Their daughter and son later served as flower girl and ring bearer at their Montecito, California wedding.
Before settling down with Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson had a string of high-profile relationships (via Us Weekly). She has been linked to actor Jensen Ackles, singer Adam Levine, Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville, John Mayer, and Tony Romo. She’s also dated Billy Corrigan and Jeremy Renner. She was famously married to boy band member Nick Lachey as well.
Simpson and Lachey became well known for their popular MTV reality series Newlyweds. The pair documented the early stages of their marriage for fans to see. However, just four years after walking down the aisle, the duo went their separate ways. Lachey later married Vanessa Lachey, whom he shares three children with.
