Fantastic 4 Poster Becomes ‘Where’s Waldo’ Puzzle as Fans Spot ‘AI Mistakes’ that Marvel Keeps Denying

Four fingers in one hand is a subtle yet fantastic nod

Fantastic 4 is finally in the MCU, and many fans are rightfully excited. As with new additions to the MCU, promotional material is bound to flood the internet; however, some eagle-eyed fans are mocking and criticizing the new Fantastic 4 poster, saying it was made with AI. Marvel was quick to deny the allegations, though that didn’t exactly convince some of the naysayers.

As soon as the batch of Fantastic Four: First Steps posters came out, several highly upvoted threads on social media started pointing out how there were telltale signs that they were made with AI. Some of the more obvious signs apparently include the hand waving the big blue flag, which appears to only have four fingers.

Others pointed how the camera on the left has a waist-level viewfinder, but the woman was using it at eye level (though this could just be a Photoshop error). Some refer to a woman whose face showed up thrice in a single poster as irrefutable evidence that the posters were made with AI.

You will need to squint a bit hard to find the three women who share the same face; however, and some fans found it hard to spot her or her third face in the poster. Thus, the AI mistake egg hunt became some kind of pastime for the Fantastic 4 community.

It’s worth noting that there are other posters for Fantastic Four: First Steps, but the one with the flags seems to be the most notable offender. Still, it didn’t stop some people from pointing out that the posters seem to have been made with Midjourney, supposedly.

Marvel Denies the Use of AI

Despite the widespread accusations which have practically turned the posters into memes and a raging AI debate online, Marvel representatives have stepped in and claimed that there was no AI used for the posters. Several publications such as The Wrap and Deadline have reached out to Marvel for comments on the matter and were told the same denial.

Marvel has actually used AI in the past for its shows, such as Secret Invasion. Some fans remain skeptical, while others say that it’s still not bad to call out Disney for supposedly bad Photoshop if the posters turned out to be made by humans instead of AI (or a hasty combination of both).

Regardless of the Fantastic 4 poster controversy, Fantastic Four: First Steps has proven to be popular among the fans with many praising its direction and integration into the rather crowded MCU.
