Heads up, Squid Game fans! The series’ final installment is just around the corner, and more intriguing details are making the rounds online. Recently, a post on Instiz, a South Korean-based entertainment forum, has fans buzzing with both excitement and disappointment after supposedly revealing the episode count for Season 3.

The platform shared the show’s promo photo and details about the upcoming season. The details, written in Korean, confirmed that the premiere date is set for June 27, 2025 Additionally, it revealed that the production cost of the hit Netflix series is estimated at 100 billion KRW (approximately $68 million).

But what caught the attention of many was the supposed number of episodes. According to the post, Squid Game Season 3 will consist of just six episodes—something many found disappointing.

Fans reacted quickly, expressing their dismay over the allegedly shorter season. Many voiced concerns that six episodes are ‘too short’ and might not be enough to deliver a satisfying finale. Others noted that six episodes wouldn’t do justice to the new characters in Season 2.

Meanwhile, some thought the production cost was way too high, especially for a six-episode run. Some also felt that the wait for the third season was too long.

However, it is worth noting that Squid Game Season 3 will drop just six months after the second installment—a much shorter wait compared to the three-year gap between the first two seasons. The shorter wait makes sense, as reports previously stated that they filmed Seasons 2 and 3 simultaneously.

According to a June 2024 report by OSEN, Squid Game began filming in July 2023 and wrapped up nearly a year later. They filmed the two seasons back-to-back, totaling 13 episodes. Since Season 2 aired seven episodes, that leaves us with six episodes for Season 3.
