One thing we can all agree on is that times are tough for just about everybody who isn’t some billionaire. Shouldering that weight and burden can be even tougher on parents with young kids as we try to shield them from the ugly and bring some genuine delight to their world. Well, that’s what happened when two decent acts of kindness made one boy’s Pokemon journey a reality and made his entire day.
In a post by ShadowRex on the r/MadeMeSmile Reddit page called ‘This is what the hobby is all about,’ an extremely generous man randomly gifted a vendor at what looks like a Pokémon event an entire binder of Pokémon cards. Just a few moments later, a man and a younger boy approached, and the vendor asked if they were Pokémon fans, and the man replied that the boy was starting to.
In a heartwarming and sweet moment, the man talks about the generous binder of cards he received earlier and offers it to the boy to help him jumpstart his Pokémon collection. The boy eagerly accepts and thanks the man who gave the binder to the vendor first, then the vendor himself. Even more cherry on top, a random customer near the boy when this happens offers a graded Pokémon card to the boy as well. In case anybody wonders what’s so heartwarming about any of this, well, there’s a lot of money to be made in Pokémon cards. This binder could easily sell for a pretty penny, so for not one, but two kind folks to pass that up just to put a smile on a boy’s face is the kind of good vibes we can all use at the moment.
Here is what folks had to say about this event.
“I like how the kid went immediately to thank the right guy and then came back to also thank the stallholder”
“He will probably remember that forever, such a pair of nice gestures as most people would have sold that binder and made a nice chunk of money.”
“I brought my 11 year old to the card/comic store down the street when he started collecting pokemon and hockey cards last year. Every single employee in there that has talked to him now knows him by name and they say hi and bye to him when they see him. A great hobby for kids if you have nice adults helping/teaching them what it’s all about.”
As for the vendor himself, he actually has a YouTube channel named CoopsCollection, from which this video was taken. It’s always nice seeing the younger generation being shown kindness and grace, and hopefully, they will learn and pass that on in the future.
