Prince Harry addresses plans to build a better world during a surprise appearance at a summit in Los Angeles, referencing his post-royal life and politics. Since exiting the UK five years ago, the Duke of Sussex has seemingly struggled to fit into life in the United States, exploring a career in Hollywood while keeping up with some charitable ventures dearest to his heart. The supposed lack of uniformity in his pursuits often leads the Duke and his wife to be tagged “royal grifters,” garnering them even more criticism. However, Harry revealed that his post-UK sojourn involved a lot more than we see or hear in the headlines, and he was most proud of it.
The 40-year-old made a surprise appearance at a venture capital event in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 27. Prince Harry got to address the crowd at the Upfront Summit, sharing some previously unknown details about his life as a royal striving to make his way in America. He began by acknowledging the surprised crowd, proceeding to motivate them with his speech, saying,
“I’m here to talk about something that I believe will resonate with all of you as leaders, creators, builders and changemakers: How do we invest in our shared future to solve the challenges we face today as a divided society?”

The father of two explained how as a dad, he found himself constantly seeking solutions. He also understood that along with the power or influence that came with his royal birth, he had a responsibility to utilize his platform to proffer impactful solutions. That, he explained, was what being born into a life of service entailed.
Prince Harry then highlighted the need for companies and individuals to invest in tech companies that provide technological solutions addressing “the root causes of society challenges.” The royal dad explained how he has treaded a similar path in the last five years, sometimes making his investments public, and letting them go unnoticed at other times. He quipped,
“I’ve spent the last five years — sometimes publicly but primarily quietly — investing in companies that align with my values and vision of a better tomorrow, companies that understand the power and significance of service.”
Prince Harry then revealed his stake in causes promoting mental fitness, carbon sequestration, early education and veteran employment. He highlighted the merits of technology in bringing people together, and how the same technology can have the detrimental effect of dividing and harming them. The good and bad impact of technology necessitates the need to prioritize “the safety of our children.” Describing technology as “the very industry that is shaping our world,” Prince Harry noted,
“Every business decision can reflect a commitment to serving others, whether it’s your customers, your community, or the planet. That’s the future I see: companies that are designed not just for profit but for an investment in a better shared future.”
Harry Talks Living a Life of Servitude Post UK Exit
Prince Harry’s speech also saw him discuss the royal policies on politics, admitting his upbringing did not permit him to vote, become entangled “in the divide between left or right views,” or “a belief in blue or red.” According to him, his move from the UK to begin life anew in the US over five years ago gave him a new perspective on what investing in a shared future should entail. While in the UK as a working royal, much of his life revolved around “charity.”

Although he maintains the same charitable efforts, keeping servitude on the forefront of his life’s work, he now has the liberties to focus on investment-driven “upstream solutions and preventions.” His business decisions mostly focus on addressing problems “before they require fixing.” Notwithstanding, Harry admittedly strives to uphold his royal values, approaching everything through the lens of service. The Prince added,
“From my institutional role traveling the world to my decade of duties in the military, I saw the power of serving others firsthand. My personal experiences overseas taught me that when you put others first, you build stronger, more sustainable systems. That’s true from Nigeria to Nepal, and from Sydney to Santa Barbara.”
Sure enough, the exiled Prince Has continued making a difference in his own way since leaving the UK in pursuit of the American dream. Aside from his continuous contributions to his self-championed projects like the Archewell Foundation and the Invictus Games, Harry and his wife have contributed to charities across the world. Additionally, they have made international outreaches to countries like Nigeria and Colombia to promote endeavors that ensure a better future for the younger generations and military veterans. Despite having most of his works watered down by the endless vitriol he receives from the media, he remains unrelenting in his charitable pursuits. This goes to prove further that Prince Harry’s actions are inspired, not by a quest for recognition, but a genuine intention to shape the future through servitude, in line with his royal upbringing.
