Fortnite Anti-Cheat Update

Even though the Epic Games team cares and works hard to maintain balance and fairness for all its players, it is not always possible. Although Fortnite has protocols to prevent players from cheating or using gadgets that give them an advantage, there are always those who bypass these preventive measures. That’s why Epic Games had to sanction players who violate its game policies. So, Epic Games announced a new anti-cheat update on competitive integrity to stop this issue in Fortnite and Rocket League.

Epic Games undertook several legal proceedings against players who used cheat codes or gadgets that helped them in tournaments. In addition to the lawsuits, cheating players faced matchmaking bans. For this reason, the Epic Games team introduced an anti-cheat update for Fortnite and Rocket League, which included new security features:

  • TPM: This feature is a component that focuses on verifying hardware and other security systems so that no malware or cheats can modify the program.
  • Secure Boot: This feature will prevent users from installing malware.

Returning to the players who violated the previous rules, Epic Games will take new security measures:

  • Banned players with only one infraction will have a “punishment” of a one-year matchmaking ban. However, the ban will be for life if players have a second infraction.
  • Players who cheat and participate in tournaments will be banned from tournaments forever, and their trophies may be revoked. They will also have a suspension from matchmaking for one year.
  • For users who cheated, broke other rules, or helped others cheat, their ban will remain unchanged.

This will also help users who did not understand the previous rules or did not commit any offense but had a problem with an unjustified ban. They will be able to use matchmaking again. So Epic will be compassionate to those who made a mistake, giving them a second chance, but there will be no third one.
