The child support drama between basketball player Anthony Edwards and his ex-lover Ayesha Howard is nearly over. The NBA star emerged victorious in a recent hearing that dismissed his former girlfriend’s California claims. Ayesha filed her paternity lawsuit in California after moving there and giving birth to daughter Aubri Summers Howard.
However, the legal dispute between the exes began when Edwards filed a separate paternity lawsuit in Georgia. He argued against using California law to determine child support for Aubri. The NBA star alleged Ayesha initially lived in Georgia but moved to California before giving birth to their daughter.
Edwards slammed her actions as “unjustifiable and a bad faith attempt to obtain a higher child support order.” He believed she was using their daughter for financial gains, but Ayesha denied exploiting Aubri. Judge Favors Anthony Edwards in Child Support Ruling
Despite Ayesha’s arguments against Edwards’ claims, a judge favored the athlete’s stance during a hearing on Monday, February 24. The legal umpire ruled that “California lacks jurisdiction regarding the child support.” This implied the judge presiding over the Georgia paternity case would make the final decision.
However, the decision on Aubri’s custody and visitation has not been determined. The LA judge reportedly set a hearing for March 20 to determine whether these issues would be addressed in California court. Before the latest update in the paternity drama, Edwards revealed he had no interest in his daughter.
The athlete dropped the shocking confession in a declaration, stating, “[Ayesha] and I have one minor child together, Aubri Summer Howard. Paternity was recently established through DNA testing. I am not seeking child custody or visitation of Aubri.” Edwards added that the only issues he had with his ex were financial disputes.

Edwards’ disinterest in custody or visitation of his daughter matched Ayesha’s claims about his reaction to Aubri’s conception. She shared their alleged text exchange in her lawsuit, where he told her to “Get da abortion.” The media personality also accused her ex of blocking her on all communication platforms.
Ayesha stressed that Edwards repeatedly told her he wanted nothing to do with their daughter. She claimed he noted Aubri would be a “fatherless child.” The aggrieved mother alleged she received zero financial support during her pregnancy, nor did the athlete ever contact her.
Edwards’ daughter was born in October 2024, a month before the NBA fined him for an inappropriate gesture towards fans.
