Political consultant James Carville became the internet’s latest victim following his comments about Donald Trump. The Democratic strategist has been a Trump critic from day one, frequently bashing the president’s leadership qualities. In his most recent interview, Carville accused the politician of intentionally harming the country.

Carville claims Trump’s actions, like his tariffs on Canada and Mexico, aims at destroying the country. He declared the POTUS was mentally deteriorating and theorized that an infection like syphilis was to blame. Besides Trump’s alleged “crazy” nature, the Democrat argued that he did not “like” his country. According to Carville, “the most compelling answer” to Trump’s poor decisions was his hatred for the United States. The Louisiana theorist said, per Mediaite:

“We know he believes he’s above the law because he told us that. We know he believes that we’re a terrible country with terrible people. We know that.”

Carville doubled down on Trump’s alleged dislike for America, noting his administration was no better. He claimed they did not care about inflation despite the economy being central to Trump’s campaign. The Democrat stressed that the POTUS’ “dictatorships” and “attempt to wreck the United States economy” stemmed from hatred, saying:

“What could explain all of that? I’m open. I’ll read your comments. I think the simplest and most direct explanation is that the president of the United States hates the United States [sic].”

Carville’s words did not sit well with critics, who mocked him on X. Many called him out for being incapable of making logical comments at 80 and implored him to stay quiet. “James Carville needs to be put in a home,” someone declared. Another echoed similar sentiments, claiming he needs to be “institutionalized.”

More critics bashed Carville, with an X user noting he wouldn’t have a life without Trump. A Louisiana native lamented sharing the same state with “that idiot” and alleged most Louisianans disagreed with Carville’s comments. The trolling continued with someone arguing, “James Carville is irrelevant and out of touch with the Democrats of today.”

Carville’s comments about Trump come weeks after the POTUS sparked concerns over his hiring freeze. We covered the story, sharing that the politician made it his mission to slash the country’s federal spending. However, his actions spelled trouble for American veterans.

One of the victims of Trump’s fund-cutting and firing spree was the Veteran Suicide Prevention Hotline. The hiring freeze reportedly affected social science assistants (SSAs), the support staff responsible for calling 911 on behalf of hotline responders. Without them, response times and suicide rates would reportedly increase.

Johns Hopkins psychiatrist Paul Nestadt described Trump’s actions as destructive. He claims his decision to freeze suicide prevention research is “not just a fiscal decision—it’s a threat to human lives.” Critics seem to echo similar sentiments on social media, with someone claiming the POTUS wants citizens to be “depressed, hopeless, and/or dead.”

Could Donald Trump’s hiring freeze be a sign of his hatred for the U.S., like James Carville claims?
