Tom Cruise‘s seemingly eternal rivalry against Brad Pitt in Hollywood has apparently resulted in his loss quite recently. The two’s most recent appearance in a Super Bowl commercial has concluded the winner and Brad Pitt is now ahead of Tom Cruise, particularly in the looks department.
Tom Cruise, 62, was reportedly upset over losing to Brad Pitt, 61. Both actors and Hollywood Golden Boys had their fair share of commercials for the Super Bowl LIX. Brad Pitt’s commercial, however, was notably longer. Hence, Pitt’s commercial roused the audience more compared to Cruise’s, at least according to insider reports from Radar Online.
Additionally, most of the attention toward Cruise’s commercial was drawn to his seemingly “stretched” face. Hence, several insiders have stated that Tom Cruise lost in his ongoing and decades-long Hollywood rivalry against Brad Pitt.
Some of the more notable insider comments include the following, courtesy of Radar Online:
“It touched a real nerve, as Tom prepped like crazy for the big day and knew they’d be going head to head, so to speak. He generally ignores rivals, but Pitt has always stuck in his craw as this self-appointed Hollywood golden boy.”
“Tom hated how Brad got all this fan praise for his youthful appearance in the Super Bowl ads while all he got was taunted for looking too plastic.”
“It irks him that Brad somehow managed to age better. Tom is now doing a ton of research into Brad’s beauty secrets. He’s desperate to outsmart him and turn this around!”
So apparently, while Tom Cruise looked like his skin was smoother, the win for Super Bowl commercials still goes to Brad Pitt for having a more natural, yet somewhat youthful look despite his age.
It’s worth noting that the appearance of both actors in a single event (not a single commercial, though) is something the fans eagerly awaited since the two have been practically oil and water when it came to Hollywood projects.
30 Years of Rumored One-Upmanship Ever Since 1994
Despite the star power of both male actors, they only appeared in one movie, which was 1994’s Interview with the Vampire. After this, both actors never worked with each other again, with sources speculating on a feud stemming from their time together in the film.
Other speculations point to differing personalities and tensions on set between Cruise and Pitt as both were Hollywood’s darlings at the time. The two never really confirmed their dislike for each other, but their lack of mutual or shared films is supposedly a telltale sign.
Still, both actors were considered for rivalry films such as Ford vs Ferrari, which could’ve played well to their rumored feud. Sadly, this casting choice didn’t happen in the final version and Pitt and Cruise lost the perfect opportunity to cash in on a 30-year fan speculation.
Now, even though the rumored feud between the two Hollywood actors has become somewhat of a tradition at this point, their Hollywood co-stars, particularly George Clooney, might have dispelled the speculation.
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Clooney revealed that Cruise and Pitt were even on speaking terms and both even agreed to do a sequel to Interview with the Vampire with their roles switched. Turns out this “sequel” was just Clooney’s prank. Clooney’s prank, however, revealed that Cruise and Pitt might’ve been on good terms, contrary to what their rumored feud implied.
