A Florida man is claiming to be an amnesiac after being blamed for a deadly crash that shocked a St. Petersburg community. Kylie Hill, 33, reportedly saw a car on the road that he believed to belong to his ex-girlfriend. The mistaken identity led to tragedy as Hill, who was allegedly drunk, began ramming the car, which belonged to Norbelis Figueredo-Campos, and his girlfriend, Arislenni Blanco-Medina, and ultimately running it off the road.

Kylie Hill appeared in front of a judge on Thursday to face the music for his crime. However, he claimed to be an amnesiac who could remember nothing about the horrific crash, per Law & Crime. The Florida resident blamed for the deadly accident appeared to be in pain and wincing. He also had visible injuries from the crash.

Hill claimed he couldn’t answer any questions regarding the crash because he simply couldn’t remember anything. Sadly, the incident all started when Hill and his ex-girlfriend engaged in an argument. She left the situation by getting into a car with a friend. Hill then took it upon himself to try to follow his ex, driving up and down the streets looking for her.

After spotting Figueredo-Campos and Blanco-Medina’s vehicle, Hill believed the couple to be his former girlfriend. He began “aggressively” chasing the couple for multiple blocks. According to police, Hill seemed to have malicious intent toward his ex-girlfriend, even calling her and making threats before the crash.

โ€œWhile chasing a car, he called her again and said, โ€˜I got you. Iโ€™m going to kill you, your friend and myself,โ€™โ€ Chief Anthony Holloway told reporters at a press conference. โ€œBut it gets worse from there. The car that he was chasing was not his girlfriendโ€™s car.โ€

Kylie Hill’s antics caused Norbelis Figueredo-Campos Arislenni Blanco-Medina to run off the road and smash into a concrete pole that fell and crushed the car. Blanco-Medina was killed in the accident. Her boyfriend, Figueredo-Campos, suffered major injuries such as two broken ankles and a broken femur.

“He used his car as a weapon,” Holloway said of Hill’s actions.

Both victims had recently immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba. Blanco-Medina reportedly called her father during the incident, telling him that she was afraid for life. He was said to be on the phone with her at the time of the accident.

While Hill claims to be an amnesiac after being blamed for the dead crash, most people aren’t buying it.

“Amnesia?? Yeah, right. He knows what happened and is too afraid to say it,” one person commented.

“A fatal case of mistaken identity is crazy. This man knows what he did. He should be locked up. He was obviously trying to hurt his ex-girlfriend,” said another.

“You can’t play the amnesia card. This isn’t a soap opera,” a third comment read.

The Florida man was initially charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. However, after claiming to be an amnesiac, his charges could be increased to first-degree murder and attempted murder following the deadly crash.
