Acting legend Val Kilmer has died. The news of his passing was first reported on April 2, with multiple publications revealing the cause of death was pneumonia. He was 65. Kilmer had a tremendous impact on the entertainment industry with some of his standout performances, including Batman Forever and Top Gun. Not just his work left an impact, but also who he was as a person, and Kilmer is remembered fondly by those who knew him and loved him.
This includes one of his famous ex-girlfriends, Cher. The singer took to X to share her thoughts on the late actor. “VALUS Will miss u,U Were Funny,crazy,pain in the a**, GREAT FRIEND,kids (heart) U,” she wrote. “BRILLIANT as Mark Twain. BRAVE here during ur sickness.”
Kilmer made no secret of his previous health struggles, including throat cancer. He addressed the rumors surrounding his health in a Facebook post, writing, “I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the UCLA ICU. I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say. God bless you all and please don’t worry.” His words, and how he tried to tell others not to worry despite being the one who was sick, perfectly illustrate what Cher referred to when she called him “brave.”

Fans reacted to Cher’s post with messages of condolence and reminisced about how the actor’s work had influenced them. “Was just watching him last night in Real Genius. Loved his Jim Morrison too. Really likeable actor,” a comment reads. “Good to know that he was also a great guy.”

Val was really young,” she said in an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in November 2024.
