Traveling halfway across the globe, Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey are in Liberty Falls to finally meet with the S.A.M AI and Edward Richtofen in Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil map. However, the Director’s mansion has a lot more secrets than you may think. The main easter egg quest of the Shattered Veil Zombies map in Black Ops 6 Season 3 is a burden of searching for so many different items with random spawn locations and boss fights that’d make you throw the controller out the window. Just, keep calm while going through this EE, yeah?

Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil Easter Egg: Where To Start?

Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil quest guide

Your objective in the Black Ops 6 Shattered Veil Zombies map is to get the Ray Gun MKII and upgrade it to 3 different variants. Each Ray Gun variation can open a portal to liminal spaces through the paintings you find on this map, and every one of them has a mini-boss fight sequence to deal with. That’s the simple explanation of it, now let’s get down to business with all the details you need to know. Just make sure you have the Aether Shroud field upgrade and Tomahawk as your lethal equipment. You’ll thank me later.

How To Get Ray Gun MKII

First things first, the Ray Gun MKII. There are two ways to do this: 1. Use Wunderbar and get the gun from the Mystery Box. 2. Get it for free on round 10. Simply, after you’ve proceeded to round 10 after following the guided opening of the map, get to the lab near SAM and you’ll find a zombie called the Lab Technician.

Kill the undead and he’ll drop you a floppy disk quest item. Take it to the computer located in the East Foyer. It’s basically the right-hand door in the mansion’s lobby. Interact the computer and it’ll start printing while a bunch of vermin attack you to keep the fun going. Kill them all, and then interact with the letter to read it.

There must be a four-letter word here that’s either WORM, YETI, MOTH, or something like that. Remember the word, and get to the Nursery room. You’ll find a chalkboard here where you can find 6 groups of letters on it. Counting the words on each, these are codes.

Words puzzle Shattered Veil Zombies map guide

Simply look for the letters of the word you found earlier, and count the letters in the group to get the number.  Mine is YETI here, for example, and the code will be 3576. Remember the code, and then head down to the lab and reach the Service Tunnel. Here you’ll find a trapped Doppelghast.

Enter the code on the keypad beside the door, and it’ll open. Two Toxic Zombies and a Doppelghast are your guests here, so take good care of them with enough bullets. Once dead, the Doppel will drop an arm. Take it to the armory, and unlock your Ray Gun MKII.

How To Upgrade Ray Gun MKII To All 3 Variations

Ray Gun MKII can be converted into a shotgun, marksman rifle, or an AR/SMG in this map. However, each one of the variations has its quest, and you need them all to progress in the Black Ops 6 Shattered Veil main easter egg. But first, you’ll need 3 canisters.

Where To Get All 3 Canisters In Shattered Veil Zombies Map

where to find the Shattered Veil canisters

You’ll need the canisters to fill them with enough energy so that the Ray Mark II can be upgraded. Finding these items isn’t hard at all, especially with this guide. So we start from the easiest to the trickiest here.

For the first canister, you’ll need a Kazimir grenade. You can either create one using the crafting tables or get one for free from the Service Tunnel. There’s a dead soldier holding a Kazimir in the mid-section of this area. Loot the stuff, and then throw the grenade under the Double Tap Root Beer machine. The canister is sitting inside the window, and the Kazimir will pull it out if you throw it right in front.

For the second canister, you need to shoot 4 giant crystals scattered around the map with your Ray Gun MKII. One is in the Service Tunnel on the sealing. It’s right before the Armory’s room. You’ll find another one of these on the South Balcony and one more right above where you entered the floppy disk to a computer in the East Foyer. The last one is in the Observatory near the Quick Revive perk machine. One of these crystals has the canister you’re looking for.

The 3rd and final canister is in the lab with SAM. There’s a tube here with the letter A or B on its left. Find it, and head to the Service Tunnel. Look to the left of where you found the trapped Doppelghast, and you’ll find pipes outside the map with the same letters on them. Here’s where you need that Tomahawk you should’ve packed in your loadout. You need two of these actually to solve the puzzle.

If the middle pipe is leaking gas, leave it be. If not, hit the middle valve with a Tomahawk to make it turn. Now if you have the letter A written beside the tube in the lab, hit the A valve, and if it’s B, hit the one with the same letter. You’ll hear SAM saying something about the tubes being cheap if you’ve done the step correctly. Now you must break the tube with an explosive like Semtex, launcher, or normal grenade. The final canister will pop out.

How To Get Ray Gun MKII W

Ray Gun MKII W
Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

The Ray Gun MKII W is the blue one that shoots like an SMG, my favorite. And it’s actually the easiest one to get. The first thing you need to do is to get to Shem’s Henge and place one of your canisters inside the machine right in front of the Speed Cola machine. Here comes the Mega Abomination.

Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash
Mega Abominations in Shattered Veil Zombies map

Hold soldier! Do not shoot the beast. You need it to laser beam the 3 small rocks you find in the round area. Simply hide behind the rocks so that the Mega will laser beam them. Once all 3 rocks are lasered, you need to make the Mega attack to make them float in the air. With all 3 rocks floating, Abby disappears and you can proceed with the next step.

A portal opens right in the middle of the area, and you just need to protect it against the damn Vermins attacking it. If you keep the portal safe and kill all the vermin, your canister will be charged and you can just take it. This one needs to be taken straight to the Service Tunnel for your Ray Gun MKII upgrade.

The Ray Gun MKII W upgrade bench is right in front of the armory’s door. Simply press and hold the interact button to build the SMG Ray Gun MKII variation. One down, two more to go.

How To Get Ray Gun MKII P

Ray Gun MKII P

This is the shotgun Ray Gun MKII variation codenamed P, and you’ll need it just like the other two for completing the Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil main easter egg quest.

Essence Bomb in BO6 Zombies Shattered Veil
Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

The first step is to find an Essence Bomb. You’ll find this item in a random location inside one of these white boxes with the Project Janus logo on them. They’re easy to spot, but only one of them has the Essence Bomb, so make sure you break as many of them as you can with your squad along the way as soon as you start the game.

Once you’re in position of the bomb, head to the Service Tunnel and plant it on this pile of rocks here. This will open a new section of the map that has 3 Doppelghast statues in them. We need to re-animate and then kill them to charge the second canister, but first, you’re going to need 2 reflectors.

Plant the canister inside the device in the new area, and then head to the Quick Revive machine. You’ll find your first reflector inside a water fountain. There’s another water fountain in the South Balcony, so make sure you take the reflector it on your way to the Service Tunnel.

Now head down to the new area, and plant the first reflector in front of the shard. You’ll find a second reflector right where the laser beam ends. Place it, and hit the shard once to awaken the first Doppelghast. Kill the creature, and then melee the first reflector once to laser the second statue. Hit the shard, and awaken the second beast.

For the third Doppelghast, you need to pick the second reflector and melee the first one until the laser heads toward a cave above. You can reach the high ground by entering the small cave path. Place the reflector above, and then melee it to laser the final Doppelghast.

Now melee the shard, and awaken the last elite zombie. This Doppelghast has been lifting weights lately, so it’s a literal bullet sponge. Kill him, and you’ll have your charged canister in no time.

With the charged purple canister, head to the Director’s Quarter near the South Balcony, and place it inside the crafting machine. Here’s where you can get your Ray Gun MKII P which can be later used on Josiah Shem’s portrait.

How To Get Ray Gun MKII R

The last and probably the weakest Ray Gun MKII upgrade in Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil is the R variation. You’ll find the upgrade bench for this variation on the spawn area in Shattered Veil, but you need to fill the canister with Toxic Energy first.

Plant Seed item in Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil map

Shattered Veil Plant Seed

You need 4 Plant Seed items which can be extracted from the type of plants you see in the image above. These are scattered in random locations outside the Mansion and near the Double Tap machine. You may also find some near the South Balcony.

You need to shoot the plants with the Ray Gun MKII or explosives like the underbarrel launchers or grenades. They pop out an item called the Plant Seed, which we need 4 of them for the easter egg to work. Fetched all of them? Head to the Conservatory, and plant your last canister inside a machine in the middle.

This will trigger a new objective where you need to plant the seeds one by one inside the yellow machines in the area. One is in front of where you planted the canister and one is behind it. Another one is outside near the Quick Revive machine, and the last one is in the small hut in front of the perk machine.

Plant one seed, and then protect it for a few minutes from the purple-eye zombies. Once the progression meter on the left side of your screen is filled by 1/4, head to the next machine and plant your second plant. Do the same for all 4 seeds, and your canister will be charged.

Pick the canister, and place it inside the working bench in the spawn section of the map. This will give you the Ray Gun MKII R, and you can now proceed to the final steps of completing the Shattered Veil map easter egg in Black Ops 6 Zombies.

How To Open All 3 Portrait Portals

Each one of the Ray Gun variants you own right now can open one of the 3 portraits around the map. These will open pocket dimensions with 3 different quests to find certain items for the characters inside.

Ray Gun MKII R Trial

Since we last got the R variant of the Ray Gun MKII, let’s begin our portrait journey with it. Head to the library, and you’ll find the one portrait associated with the Ray Gun MKII R. Interact with the machine next to it, and a soul box begins.

Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

You need to kill a bunch of zombies with the Ray Gun MKII R to charge the machine. Once done, a portal opens and you can get inside to meet the man behind the portrait. You’d need to find 3 hidden items for this trial to begin: A Nuclear Plant ID Badge, an Audio Log, and a Ledger.

ID Badge location Shattered Veil Zombies map
Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

You’ll find the Nuclear Plant ID Badge in one of the 3 fireplaces on the map. The spawn will be random, and you must have the Aether Shroud field upgrade active to see it. The fireplaces are in the Study, on the left side of the elevator, and in the East Foyer.

Audio Log location Shattered Veil Zombies

The Audio Log is on a desk on the second floor of the Grand Foyer by the bar.

Ledger location Shattered Veil Zombies

The Ledger can be right in front of the liminal space portal, on top of a desk in the East Foyer, or on another desk in the Study.

With all 3 items, there’ll be 3 books highlighted by Aether energy in front of the portal. You need to interact with the books in the right order which might change every game. Listen to the audio cue, and it should be easy to get it done.

If done correctly, a secret door will open, and you can pick up the documents. You can now get inside the portal, place the Sentinel Artifact on the podium, and start the boss fight.

The boss is nothing but an elite zombie with a shield. You can tear the shield apart with the Ray Gun MKII R, and then you’ll have a small window to deal damage to the boss. Do it many times and the trial will be over, charging 1/3 of the Sentinel Artifact with Prima Materia.

This is the Ray Gun we need to open Josiah Shem’s portrait portal in Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil easter egg. Activate the portrait by interacting with the machine next to it, and kill a bunch of zombies to charge it.

Inside the portal, you’ll find a red bottle on the table. Pick the item, and then you’ll have to fill 3 chalices to complete this quest. Each time you interact with one of these chalices, it spawns a Disciple that we must say welcome to. No kidding, kill them all with your Ray weapon.

The first chalice is near the spawn location on a bench. The second one is on the second floor of the Grand Foyer in the mansion’s entry. And the final chalice to fill is right in the Bottlery. Once you’ve done killing all the elite zombies, head to the elevator.

Around the elevator, there are 3 two digit numbers. The order is from left to right facing the elevator. Note it, and go straight to the West Hallways. There’s a safe in this area near the Death Perception perk where you need to enter the code to open it. There’s a relic inside, take it, and head back to the portal to start the ritual.

Place the Sentinel Artifact on the podium, and fight the elite zombie that spawns in. You can only break its shield with the Ray Gun MKII P, then you can damage the Amalgam. That’s 2/3 of the final quest, it’s time to go for the Ray Gun MKII W mission.

Ray Gun MKII W Trial

You’ll need to open a secret door in the Grand Foyer to reach the third portrait. No worries, it’s much easier than the previous challenges. Just head to the Banquet Hall and find a lamp hanging outside the box you see in the image below.

Bring the lamp to the Grand Foyer, and you’ll find its place on the right side of the Juggernog machine. Now, if you interact with the lamp, it starts a Simon Says mini-game for you. Just follow the pattern with the lights, and the door will open.

Head inside, and activate the machine beside the portrait. Killing zombies using the Ray Gun MKII W will open a new portal that you can enter. Now you need 2 items to start the final ritual: 1. A bell. 2. A bottle of wine served by a zombie; exactly.

Shattered Veil bell location
Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

You’ll find the bell in the Study inside one of the glass cabinets. Break the glasses and keep spamming the interact button until you pick the bell. Once you have the item, head to the bar on the second floor of the Grand Foyer, and make sure you have the Brain Rot ammo mod equipped.

Place the bell on the bar desk, and ring it. Now keep a last zombie for the next step. While near the bar, shoot the zombie so it turns with the Brain Rot, and then ring the bell. The zombie will jump over into the bar and make you a drink. Pick the bottle and head to the portal.

All you need to do now is to place the Sentinel Artifact on the podium and start the last ritual. Kill the elite using the Ray Gun MKII W, and pick the Sentinel Artifact in the end. This is where SAM will die out of joy because you’ve filled the artifact with Prima Materia for her.

Upgrade all your guns, and get the best you have from the GobbleGum machine. If you’re ready for one of the hardest boss fights ever in the Zombies’ history, go to SAM and interact with the mainframe.

Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil Z-Rex Boss Fight

Black Ops 6 Zombies Shattered Veil final boss
Image Source: Activision via The Nerd Stash

Tempering with space-time has awakened a zombified dino called the Z-Rex, which according to Richtofen, it’s a real B****! It is. This boss is a second-to-none bullet sponge that can one-tap you if you lose only 1 armor. No projectile attacks, thankfully, but the damn thing jumps and rams like we’ve cursed its family or whatever.

The Z-Rex boss fight has 4 stages divided into 2 sections. In the first two stages, it’s a bit calm and will receive your fire at will. Then comes the 3rd stage when it puts the other side of the coin to the show and begins hyper attacks. The best you can do is to stay as far as you can and dodge the toxic areas on the ground. Good luck! I mean, use the Aether Shroud, it helps a lot.
